Oh sorry that’s a March headline in Rail Magazine . I can’t make it linked to Brexit .

I think that I can link it to the EU though!

Much of the downturn is linked to the slump in coal for the power stations as we have to move over to green energy.

You know, the energy that produces too much when it is not needed and too little when it is.

Power cuts on the horizon thanks to the EU?

Grimsby was the home of the biggest fishing fleet in the world…. There wasn`t a household in the town which did not depend on it and its` associated and interlinked industries that did not have a reliance on its` existence and opportunities relating to it to provide a future prior to the EU fisheries commision carving up our grounds and sharing them out amongst the other European states… Now we have no fishing fleet whatsoever, we don`t even have a fish market anymore as it is now nothing more than a transit point where fish caught elsewhere is trucked in from the continent who now export our own fish to us!!!
I know it`s far too late now to do anything about the demise of our fleet we no longer have the facilities to land fish and the entire dock area is being demolished now leaving nothing but rubble and empty docks, there`s no cohesive plan into what they will do with area… they apparently mentioned something about windfarms, whether that was related to the susidised industry which doesn`t produce anything or the statements made by politicians has yet to be confirmed, it`s quite confusing as thier outputs and subsidies bear such a close resemblence to each other….
We are such a poor prospect in Grimsby we don`t even have a problem with migrants!! The only foriegners are the continental drivers of the trucks carrying fish caught in our waters by the Dutch, French, Spanish, in fact everywhere in the EU except our own…
I`m so glad we are now out… whatever the future holds for our town it simply cannot be any worse than it is now… I can barely even afford a belt to tighten these days…

Did someone on here say it was cold? Looks like frosts in the North of the U.K. late next week. I’ve no doubt that we will soon hear of that “Indian Summer” again from the BBC. You know, that real definition of an Indian Summer that takes place in October that takes place in July, August or September. Bit a bit of snow in S Norway next week too!

I think I might be getting a touch of the Mosleys (no, not that one his boy – Max). I started off thinking that dear old Auntie Beeb couldn’t get any more one sided – yet again they proved and continue to prove me wrong. There is no point now adding links as it seems everything is full throttle to show us for the homeopathic xylophones we all are.
Now here’s the Mosley bit – I am starting to enjoy it. No matter how hard they hit me, spank me and shout abuse at me I know all this is just the tantrum of the spoiled Twitbook generation and it’s just beginning to make me laugh, they are beginning to look evermore ridiculous and I can’t help chuckle and read more of their tripe. I now find it quite cathartic.

A time traveller from Germany 1939 would have thought the nazis had taken over the UK airwaves, tale after tale of scared foreigners who just don’t know where to turn..the only thing not mentioned was concentration camps. By jeering at a UKIP MP, they are showing us that they hold the views of – what they see as – the ‘little people’ in total contempt. They are jeering and booing at us, not just a UKIP MP.

They are out of touch with everyone except the self-regarding elite class – who are the only people they represent.

The referendum was basically the working class + lower middle class against the privileged middle class and public sector workers. This should be the end of the Labour+Conservative party system, but I doubt they’re going to give up easily with the help of their propaganda wing at the BBC.

In a Trough: “There is currently no reliable system for collecting performance data in order to identify and report on results and impacts, as they become available. Due to the absence of a ‘battery indicator’, the Commission’s reporting has failed so far to provide sufficient, relevant and reliable evidence on what the EU’s expenditure has achieved.” This from “Financing the EU Budget- Moving Forwards or Backwards” Centre For European Policy Studies 2014.
Meanwhile today the EU’s Budget Committee discussing the “Multi Annual Financial Framework 2014-2020 ” recommended “the introduction of one or several new “own resources” a reformed VAT, a Financial Transaction Tax, a reformed EU Emissions Trading System and the phasing out of all forms of rebates.”
Or in other words, significant changes to the way Member States contribute to the EU budget (including possibly an EU VAT tax rate), no more national rebates, and major questions over the value for money from EU expenditures..(this year’s commitments 155 billion euros).
    Quelle surprise…….

FYI the flats in the picture no longer have any tenants and this entire area is currently being considered for demolition and nhen no actual redevelopment!!!! I`ve been watching the BBC news reporting that N.E.Lincolnshire is now a f**king hotbed of racism and anti migrant rhetoric!! If only…??!! If grimsby were a rotting corpse you would be hard pressed to find a maggot willing to feed…. Also since the referendum there are now rumours that DONG energy are considering withdrawing from the area which could lead to the loss of about seven local jobs as they will no longer need to employ a local person to stand on the quayside each day to provide support for an industry which doesn`t actually exist… One for each day of the week and all on zero hours contracts to avoid accusations of employing non local workers and still avoiding any kind of genuine job security…. Yea thanks for that…..

We must learn that we the plebs are not important. Our fishermen, our daughters, our rights are nothing. However, Nigel being rude to the EU is far more important apparently.

Invaders can bomb us, sneer at us and kill our soldiers and we are told it is nothing to do with immigration or their vile cult but if someone is rude to a woman (how would you know anyway) in a black bag that trumps everything.

We have been abused and have still voted for them for too many years. The idiotic elites of Westminster with their heads stuck up their (or another Right Honourable Member’s backside) will not learn until it’s too late. We have had a little taste of true democracy now with the referendum (Cameron’s catastrophe) and the dishonourable members, the unaccountable BBC and Madame Traitor north of the border don’t like it and think they can water it down or ignore it. We must not let that happen, we are better than that, or we were.

@chrisH … yes I do live in the area, well actually i live in Cleethorpes which is next to it and is divided along the middle of the main road from Grimsby.. the fishing industry and its` demise is of particular interest to myself as I came from a fishing family and my step father was an owner not just a skipper of a seine class fishing vessel… since the loss of fishing to our entire region we in cleethorpes have suffered the knock on effects, Cleethorpes was once a town which was quite affluent and was a destination for many holiday makers who didn`t mind having a day out in a sub standard type of seaside resort.. The area is now home to next to no industry and an older generation who used to be employed solely by fishing industry related companies…. Then 1975 came along…. Hull had already lost its` deep sea fishing fleets after the three `Cod Wars` and with it Grimsby lost its` as well which was a potential distaster to the area in itself.. however the North Sea fishing fleet still maintained and provided work and wealth for the area until the Dogger Bank and its waters were handed to Europes fleets instead, we ended up with about 8% of what was once ours by right to fish, the Dutch and other states immediately brought in thier Beam Trwlers and completely destroyed the seabeds of the Dogger bank and then the surrounding areas leaving what were once spawning grounds and rich fishing grounds bare….. Next the EU decided to offer `decommissioning` options for various fishing companies which never actually materialised in the form of anything other than promises to compensate those no longer able to fish, they waited until people were at thier most desperate and offered an insulting fraction of what the boats were worth and then destroyed the boats which were perfectly seaworthy and due to thier use of the `seine-netting` type of fishing were able to sustain fishing as they didn`t destroy the seabed… The Scandavians also decided to retire early at this time as ironically whilst our boats were scrapped and no money was forthcoming, they as members of the EU enjoyed full compensation which thier governments ensured was allotted ASAP!! I don`t bear them any ill will though, as some of them actually came back here and settled and still live here today for some reason they preferred the area to living under the EU and it`s beurocratic nonsense …Once the boats were scrapped the EU then handed thier quotas to the rest of Europe too and eventually we were left with the best deep sea and North Sea fishing ports in Europe but without any boats to use them… Only immingham (12 miles up the coast) really survived becouse of its contaner terminal and facilities for Oil tankers although its` initial success has now dwindled too…. The Humber Estuary and its Deep Water Channel was once the envy of Europe now it`s a sad empty expanse of water with encroaching marsh grass where once there were miles of sandy beaches and a view without much in the way of shipping and only a few poxy wind generators to break up the bleakness…. There are now three major local seaports (Grimsby with both a fish docks and also a container port, Hull which also has the same although thiers was mainly deep water based, and Immingham which is container based and has facilities for oil tankers etc….) all of them are unable to justify having a full compliment of Customs Officers and Immingham has about two full time officers whilst grimsby having no boats has none…… not sure about Hull I expect it`s the same more more or less… the only silver lining in the cloud is that being such a sh1tty area with no prospects we have no problems with illegal migrants and that it is possible for me to purchase my tobacco without any VAT on it from the bootleggers who for a nice change from the norm at least happen to English like me… 🙂 Sorry for the rant but I am glad that we have finally seen the EU for the monster that it is and I`m actually now able to look out of my window through the pouring rain and feel positive that tomorrow there`s a chance that it will be a better brighter day…. Our area depended on fishing for everything in the seventies we were classed as a very wealthy populace with a genuine future and a potentially lucrative place for many kind of industrial projects due to our facilities and were a main port for many major Scandanavian shipping ports too…. now the estuary is bereft of anything more than treated sewage effluent, tampons and a mixture of discarded rubbers and jellyfish (it`s hard to tell them apart when they wash up with the tidal flow) I know that whatever happens being out of Europe cannot possibly do any kind of damage to my town and things now can truly only improve with time and of that I have plenty… as do many of the mass unemployed of the area….

And yet Justin C, the fish market in Grimsby must be better than Hull’s. My fishmonger (even fishmongers are scarce in Hull as we are all expected to get aged fish from the supermarket), gets his fish from Grimsby although he has to compete with the supermarkets for his supplies. But he prefers salmon from Norway rather than Scotland, says it is far superior. Will I now have to buy Scottish salmon following Brexit? Do the BBC care!

      • Justin Casey says:

Would you believe that i cannot name a single independant fishmonger in either grimsby or cleethorpes Deborah… Only the Supermarkets offer this type of service and one on an indoor market stall which is soon to be closed down due to redevelopment of the shopping precinct, it will probably be replaced by Cafe Nero or a car Park .. whatever!!
Did you know that Grimsby invented the fish finger??? as for the fish market like i said it`s actually nothing more than a transit point for fish caught in our waters but trucked in by EU member states ficheries….. FYI I recommend the Salmon from the Irish rather than the Scottish stuff… My mother hails from a village which lies on the banks of the River Faughan which is highly regarded for it`s salmon and trout, Jack Charlton lauded it and that`s good enough for me!!!

Crikey Deborah, for heaven’s sake don’t let your fishmonger tell Krankie about Norwegian salmon being better than the World’s Best Salmon, part of the burgeoning Scottish economy, envy of the Civilized World. This, together with sales of the World’s Most Popular Drink teamed with oat cakes, shortbread and reproduction skean dhus, are what are programmed to provide gilt-edged entry credentials to the World’s Fastest Growing Economic Group.

While Krankie gains extensive coverage of her trip to Brussels (funded by? Best not ask) a meeting of the Visegrad Group – Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic and Slovakia, together with representatives from Austria, Spain and Estonia met yesterday in Warsaw. Collectively they are less than happy at being sidelined in the current machinations, a situation which merely enforces attitudes which, they feel, have existed since they first joined the EU. Naively perhaps, they also seem to have some sympathy and enthusiasm for the UK’s stance, although from the level of media coverage – BBC and Sky in particular – within the EU parliament, this level of dissatisfaction would appear to be either non-existent or of no consequence. Eastern Europeans don’t quite see it that way.
This information was gained from The Australian, a newspaper with refreshingly old fashioned ideas where balanced news reporting is concerned.

Christian Fraser BBC reporter in Brussels and Nicola Sturgeon – why don’t they just get a room?

Fraser has quite a hard on for the First Minister and would-be try again independence referendum leader.

I note our Christian Fraser is a fan of Burnley FC – where no doubt he rubs shoulders with fellow Clarets celeb supporter Labour spin doctor par excellance Alastair Campbell

My theory is that the metro liberal BBC apart from loving the EU are also completely in awe of the SNP

Remember how the SNP mob intimidated the BBC? The cybernats too.

The BBC tends to fold when their arses are on the line.

Cast your mind back to the Charlie Hebdo affair and you may recall a French journalist biting back at the BBC in the shape of Fraser about the BBC’s fear of publishing the dreaded cartoons. Fraser helplessly argued “We have a world audience we don’t want to offend!” Chicken. Coward. Softy.

Don’t take him up on those passes he made to you today Nicola – something tells me the boy talks big but if you’re looking for a chap to stand up he soon goes limp. Now if you’re actually looking for a gimp….

Many are overheard by someone walking on by. What a coincidence.

Of course, that neatly side steps any police investigation to prove or otherwise that the incident occurred as described.

What needs to be asked, is why there hasn’t been a vast volume of hate crime over the years considering the deluge of mass immigration?

Lets not forget the BBc haven’t just started reporting on incidents this was a reply to a complaint I made to the BBc at the end of last year. Thanks for getting in touch regarding ‘Breakfast’ as broadcast on 20 November.

We understand you would like to know if the young lady’s story of abuse was verified by anyone else.

Noor Salhi was invited to the programme to relate her personal experience of racial abuse. While the programme did not provide independent confirmation of Ms Salhi’s experience in her local supermarket we believe our audience were capable of judging the truth of what she said for themselves and Mr Fiyaz Mughal, who monitors such attacks, said her experience was not uncommon.

We value your feedback about this issue. All complaints are sent to senior management and programme makers every morning and we included your points in this overnight report. These reports are among the most widely read sources of feedback in the BBC and ensure your complaint is seen by the right people quickly. This helps inform their decisions about current and future reporting.

Thanks again for taking the time to get in touch.
Although the victim could recognise specifically the “assailant” had a 7 year old it seems no charges were brought. Typically with these “incidents” there was no third party confirmation. A common theme with little or no evidence maybe some phone footage which may or may not record the entire incident.

This IS a divided nation, – of course we all enjoy a good restaurant, but to most of us its a ‘treat’, not a way of life at lunchtimes ! Meals at midday around the rest of the country are queues at Greggs, M & S or McDonalds. I realise this post sounds a bit ‘communistic’ – not meant to be, but just an observation that London is elitist compared to the rest outside of the M25.

I watched the EU Parliament BREXIT debate, (all two hours plus, skip the first 15 minutes while they assemble). It struck me what a good job the BBC has done for the EU over the years by not showing how some of the other MEPs behave, if they had then the ‘leave’ vote would have been more like 90:10!

Juncker is totally incomprehensible in translation. Verhofstadt from Belgium is just vile as he rants against Farage. This appears to be standard. Farage is confident and affable, shrugging off any abuse, while Verhofstadt snarls away looking for support from the rabble, forgetting that by doing so he loses the microphone. Then we have the heart of ‘the project’ as stated by the Italian, Pittella. He wants more ‘European’ institutions, that will keep the ‘people’ on board. He also wants European-wide political parties. How will the people relate to them? He probably wants forced internal migration so that everywhere gets a share from each member and “Imagine” blares out continuously from the EUBC.

    This is funny!
    Well done BBC!
He says it wouldn`t be right to throw Corbyn under a bus…but a small taxi might be alright!
    Great stuff.
Corbyn DID promise them a “new kind of politics”…and sure enough , hes done just that!
Seamus Milne MUST get some OBE award in the next Honours List….what a guy!
    Promise delivered Jezz…stay on,pal!

The excellent Ms Raccoon gives her take on Seamus Milne. A typical modern horny-handed son of toil!

Try the super smooth, Winchester-educated son of a former Director-General of the BBC. Admittedly the first Director-General to actually get fired from his spot amongst the fat cats. Seumas followed his father to Winchester where he stood in a mock election as a ‘Maoist’ (as a point of interest – fees at Winchester are actually higher than those at Eton) and later to Baliol. “He spent his entire time at Balliol,” a college contemporary recalls, “wearing a Mao jacket and talking with a fake Palestinian accent”.

Thanks for the link ChrisH which I’ve read. My first impression was, what an arsehole the BBC 3 so called “comedian” was. This wasn’t funny at all. This was a BBC prick taking advantage of someone with a disability and to gain from it. He should be sacked immediately. I’ve no doubt some will find it funny, but even though I do not support the Labour Party, this was out of order, big time. Another reason why I do not part with £145 every year.

      Point taken OB.
Said previously that I`d had some regard for Blunkett-bloody awful at Education(what OTHER country would have put a blind man in charge of schools…equally stupid to have put Prescott in the job-both were misfits and tokens).
As Home Secretary, some of his instincts were good-albeit hopelessly incompetent, and personally a disastrous mess of a man.
But heard him on Saturdays Today programme, clucking on about UKIP and why we voted to Leave. His scorn for us, for the UKIP Councillors in his constituency of old-and his anger at Cameron for calling the Referendum-shows him to be viscerally stupid and scornful for those he used to know a little.
Kinnock contempt-only a dog divides them.

2.04-2.13 being the bit where Blunkett is shown as a shit…

Blunkett’s constituency, as I recall, was some “diversity” ridden hell hole in Sheffield and where he had owned a house since 1988; yet the rented property, which was his home, was 15 miles away in Edensor (the delightful estate village next to Chatsworth House in Derbyshire) for which claimed over £20,000 in expenses from the tax payer.

Following on from Ms Sturgeon and her visit to the E.U., it really didn’t go well for her did it? In fact, it was a disaster.
Welcome to the real World Nicola: (As reported via the Daily Mail)

Speaking at the end of her talks tonight, Ms Sturgeon said: ‘I feel my job here today has been effective and I look forward to continuing these discussions in the weeks and months to come.’

At a press conference marking the end of a meeting of the 27 EU member states left after Brexit, Mr Junker addressed his imminent meeting with Ms Sturgeon.

Standing alongside council president Donald Tusk, Mr Juncker said: ‘I will listen carefully to what the First Minister will tell me, but we don’t have the intention – neither Donald nor myself – to interfere in the British process.

‘That is not our duty and not my job.’

Mr Rajoy said: ‘Scotland does not have the competence to negotiate with the European Union. Spain opposes any negotiation by anyone other than the government of the United Kingdom.

‘I am extremely against it, the treaties are extremely against it and I everyone is against it. If the United Kingdom leaves….Scotland leaves.’

Thanks for that ChrisH, frightening that he was once our country’s protector, -Home Secretary.

    Jezz still has Momentum!

My mate is a three pound member and he hates Labour so I’m sure Jez will get his vote.

Irony of ironies is that Ed Megabland, who created the selection method by which a Corbyn figure was appointed, hewn from Militant Tendency, today has told Jezza to resign!

Not sure this was picked up today on the media. It’s all Ed’s fault.

These politicians are not fit for purpose. Get rid.

Wimbledon has started and Roger Federer will doubtless feature on the nation’s TV screens for the next two weeks. But what are the chances that anyone at the BBC will ask him “So Roger, what is it like being a European outside the EU? How have you managed to survive all this time?”

Nothing to do with BBC bias, but I just had a look (for the first time) at the Labour Party “Facebook” page. Good grief! The comments there took me completely by surprise. If you can, have a look yourself, and I’ll let you make you own mind up as to how the Labour Party is fairing at the moment, and that includes “Jezza” of course.

I just finished watching the Beeb report on Bliars war in Iraq.

If they’ve got some “sources say” information on Chilcott, BLIAR is toast.

I did enjoy him looking like a deranged, grinning chimpanzee with our brave forces, most of whom looked unimpressed.

Bring on the trial in The Hague!

RIP to those who didn’t make it back.

A simple message to Al Beeb and our ‘so called’ politicians.
The main problems with the EU is that it is undemocratic and the uncontrolled number of immigrants .
    Simples.
