Start the week open thread

Time for a fresh open thread……a Tory conference in full swing, mass Muslim immigration, a war in the Middle East with the Turks and Russians curiously bombing everyone except the one target they should be hitting…the Islamic State, Europe in turmoil and Peston’s hair….the BBC newsroom must be working full-steam ahead, all hands to the pumps, to keep up with all that and shape it into a narrative that pleases the left-wing sensibilities….

Nigel pretty much nailed it with his analysis of Germany. When you add the VW emissions scandal you can see the wheels coming off the German economic model: and once the economic downturn starts they wont be so willkommen.

Not sure, Grant, I think they have, but ‘hard Left’ and ‘extreme Left’ would have also been used – perhaps more widely. This would have occurred mostly in the 1970s and 1980s.

    Quick, something must be done!

BBC Breakfast carry a movie-plugging interview with Meryl Streep – and appear to extract the shock revelation that the multi-Oscar winner ‘has been paid less than her co-stars’ (no facts or direct quote is provided – just hints and sly nods. Asked that question she, frankly, would have been letting the sisters down if she hadn’t agreed with the premise of that loaded question)

Louise Minchin seems expecially animated on this ‘issue’ – do I see her shoot her red sofa-partner, Charlie Stayt, a questioning glance?

And so we leave the gels at the Beeb as they begin to compare payslips with the house eunuchs.

Oh, by the way, Nadiya Hussain ‘won’t be doing much baking today’…. she will be ‘too busy doing radio’

Well there’s a warning for licence payers.

The usual waffle. Opening shot finds a couple of skin heads amongst hundreds who were not.

Mention of an asylum centre being ‘attacked’ with fire crackers at 4am which woke people up. That’s bad isn’t it? No physical abuse or attacks mentioned.

Head of Intelligence Services (Political Appointee) voices the mantra that all would be ok if other countries took more i.e. don’t deal with the issues but spread it around like jam whilst calling for more jam.

Feature was exactly how I expected it to be.

There was a fashion in the late 1960s for troubadour-like earnest singer-songwriters

Peter Sarstedt’s ‘Where do you go to, my lovely’ (1969) sets the tone – but there were many other like-minded bards such as Donovan, Dylan and Don McLean

let’s not forget Noel Harrison’s ‘Windmills of your mind’ – what-the-dickens was that all about?

The music industry has moved on – from Bernie Flint to Mark Ronson

In retrospect we know it was a transient fashion – not an important cultural movement – just an entertainment industry trope of the day. Now they look at best nostalgic, at worst naff.

Holywood is now pushing issue-based movies. From 12 Years a Slave to Suffragette. The liberal media – exemplified by the BBC here in Britain – is lapping it up. A push-me-pull-you of plugging, approval-seeking, back-slapping, brown-nosing, virtue-signalling, hob-nobbing, guilt-tripping, egging on.

Please let it run its course.

Talking of suffragettes, watch this latest ad for Virgin media and tell me there is no agenda going on here, from the pierced mother to the subjects chosen (Paloma Faith WTF?) The only thing missing is the kids female ‘father’

If we turned this on its head and had a father and son admiring testosterone filled male heroes or inventors, the feminists would be taking to Twitter demanding the ad to be banned. This ad is 100% sexist and indoctrinating the young.

There is a discernable pattern to left-messaging in advertising these days: the bigger the corporation – the more utopian the message.

Put another way : the uglier and more mega the corporation – the greater the need to ingratiate with the prevailing left-liberal media culture

I saw an advert on a bus shelter the other day for Virgin Trains ” Come to London” with a smiling black man. In the old days it would be a Beefeater or a Cockney advertising London, this piece of propaganda shows how third world mass immigration is being normalised to the native ethnic British. Richard Branson is a scumbag.

      • Ian Rushlow says:

I saw that ‘advert’ last night and wondered where on earth it was coming from. Patronising nonsense of the highest order – is it really the case that women can’t vote or take part in athletics? Would it really be astonishing to a little girl that – gasp! – she might be allowed to sing? Mind you, Virgin Media have form: three years ago they started a series of adverts implying that only black men can advertise TV subscriptions and broadband, which Sky duly copied, followed by a set using animals. Their advertising agency is BBH (Bartle Bogle Hegarty).

Companies such as this might want to consider the negative effects of their advertising. By pursuing the politics of exclusion they will alienate many people who do not consider themselves to be part of their promoted and preferred demographics.

A fine effort here-could trade old balladers and musers from the 60s/70s.
“Windmills Of Your Mind” is like “Walk in The Black Forest”…a never ending song in that it rambles on for ever then goes back to the starting chord, so you can sing it all over.
That said, we Avids on Radio 2`s Brain Matthew Show feel you need to clearly draw a RED line between the 60s songsters like Peter-and 70s stars like Robin-his brother…Phil the Collector is very clear on that distinction-and woe betide if you cross that GREEN line now…whatever happened to Roger the Vocalist Bownan?
      Answers please!
Indeed-the BBC and its endless carousel of migrants, Moatson and Mandildo lite learned much about never ending sagas-but no songs, just endless waffle te tax credits and the 10%…and there was me thinking that they hated the 1%-that`s either a good rise in consciousness or a tenfold increase in sadfinks…the BBC will tell you when their own fupping (solar powered) windfills of their own minds get less befuddled.
Must be all those drugs eh man?
That said-seeing that we`re in the fiefdom of Sacha and Lovelace(oo-er)-I`d recommend another smoothy chops Frenchie toon-” L`Amour Incest” (Or Lemon in Zest as we Yorkshire folk call it)…no wonder the BBC played a chunk of it the other day-it`s by Serge Gainsborugh(near Otley!), as he “sings” it to his 13 year old daughter!

The job of an artist (or illustrator) is often to provoke or inspire through their chosen medium. This piece certainly does that. I quite like it but think her biggest mistake was to use a recognisable child as the centrepiece.

In the artist’s words – “I don’t want European nations to be victimised and hard working people should not suffer by those fake immigrants” – how is that racist? The BBC should not be using it as a pretext to suggest that whole nations are racist. Disgraceful.

By the way, the next item on BBC Trending is “Campaigns are being created to fund baby carriers for refugees crossing Europe” – won’t be reading that one.

It just marks another step on the road to civilisational decline.
I can see that the BBC ,having lost nearly all sporting events, is desperate for a ratings success. Most of the time it’s TV output is dire and unwatched ,
Bake Off and East Enders and the dancers. Just about all the BBC has to show for it’s money.
If the BBC was a truly commercial venture then it would be heading into liquidation.

There was a programme on British portraiture on BBC last night with Simon Schama. As an example of contemporary British painting he met the Singh Twins (no, I haven’t heard of them either) who paint scenes of modern Britain in the Indian miniature style.

I thought their paintings were reasonably good – but it was the way Shchama had to ram it home to us how wonderful the multiculti element was; it was ‘how Britain should be’ etc etc. He couldn’t just let the art speak for itself.

It was also implied that when the twins were at art school in the 80s, there was some sort of racist conspiracy to keep down their Indian style of painting. But anyone who’s been near an art school knows that they dislike figurative art in general, particularly very careful, painstaking figurative art such as Indian miniatures.

One way of combating social-justice-warrior tripe on the internet would be to flood (no pun intended) social media with fake or questionable hashtag campaigns so that people would be less likely to immediately sign up for whatever progressive twaddle appeared on their smartphone. People who genuinely cared about a cause would investigate it before getting involved.

It’s possible this will happen eventually anyway. Nobody forwards all those urban legends about AIDS syringes in cinema seats, LSD on envelopes etc that were circulating a few years ago because even the dimmest people have realised they are questionable.

So congratulations to the BBC and to Nadiya Hussein.

But it was never really about Nadiya, was it? If anything, it is a lot more to do with Lenny Henry!

Presumably, the BBC will see this as a vote for accepting islam, so we can expect to see A LOT more women in hijabs on mainstream TV, presenting the news, weather, political programmes, etc., and influencing them accordingly, whether they have any merit or ability or not.

While we have all been drinking ourselves to death at home and in the pubs, the global parasite has been slowly weaving it’s tentacles into every institution, suffocating them and forcing the passive British to accept islam as the ‘norm’. And now we have.

Before the balloon goes up, perhaps as a last resort, we ought to think about going to church again!

Yousif Badri, 29, is accused of being involved in conduct “with the intention of committing acts of terrorism”.
The medical student denies three charges under the Terrorism Act.

The very fact that this Nadiya woman’s face is all over every paper, radio and TV station (independent and BBC) and (as if by law) Twitter should be ringing alarm bells in sensible people’s minds. The agenda marches on within the MSM, the conditioning and brainwashing to be accepting of foreign cultures, to ‘accept’ and ‘obey’ what the establishment are ushering in, normalising peoples minds to the point of little or no resistance. It’s not just the MSM, the Government enforces PC/hate crimes, state undereducation, and companies enforce top-down brainwashing.

Their work is marching on, gathering apace, what we once thought could never happen is happening to the point that nothing surprises anymore.

We’re told 14.5m watched (we’re told, but who was counting?) but I would imagine (if true) many watched just to confirm what they knew would happen. A bloody cake making show, it confirms dumbed down Britain is well and truly erm dumbed down! Were those 14.5m the same people who cheered that USA residing Somalian faux ‘British’ athlete to gold back in 2012?

Bowers might not sport a headscarf, but he sure likes his bulletproof vest. I think it’s less a sensible precaution in a trigger happy war zone than it is a journalistic accessory du jour if one wants to be taken seriously by the watching public.

Bowers, who looks increasingly like a beer-swilling, barrel-chested truck driver these days (love the sideburns, Jez), doubtless sees himself as yet another international journalistic hero in the sainted footsteps of Adie and Simpson, et al. They all mourn the passing of that glorious 60s-70s heyday of the fearless ‘photojournalist’ bestriding the world’s conflict zones.

    • Aborigine Londoner says:

You gotta love the word diaspora.
The history of the term diaspora shows how a word’s meaning can spread from a very specific sense to encompass much broader ones.
Diaspora first entered English in the late 19th century to describe the scattering of Jews after their captivity in Babylonia in the 5th century B.C.E. The term originates from the Greek diasporá, meaning “a dispersion or scattering,” found in Greek translations of the Hebrew Bible (Deuteronomy 25). While this specific historical sense is still used, especially in scholarly writing, modern-day definitions of the Jewish Diaspora (often with an initial capital letter) can refer to the displacement of Jews at other times during their history, especially after the Holocaust in the 20th century. The term can also refer generally to Jews living today outside of Israel.
Diaspora also has been applied to the similar experiences of other peoples who have been forced from their homelands; for example, to the trans-Atlantic passage of Africans under the slave trade of the 17th through 19th centuries, which has been called the African Diaspora.
More recently, we find a scattering of the meaning of diaspora, which can now be used to refer not only to a group of people, but also to some aspect of their culture, as in “the global diaspora of American-style capitalism.”
      http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/diaspora

Or more simply no bloody intention of integrating.

BBC security expert was telling us today that the Russian should have launched their missiles from the Mediterranean, ‘because it’s nearer’, rather than the Caspian.

Well seeing that a cruise missile is an ‘expendible round’ it doesn’t matter where it is fired from, as long as it has the range. It does, however, make it easier to re-supply the firing ‘platform’ if said platform is near home.

BBC geo-political expert Jeremy Vine was struggling with the concept of ‘Sovereign Nation’, (been living in the EU too long Jeremy?), when his first, (off-message), caller to his programme pointed out that Putin was assisting the government of Syria and that there is no UN mandate for the CIA, Obama or Imam Dave to interfere there.

    • Al Shubtill says:

Well said JimS, I heard that on Vine this lunchtime; the view of Frank Gardner, Al Beeb’s “Security Expert” that the Russians were launching from the Caspian rather than the Med as a form of “show boating” (FFS); got totally trashed by the former RN rear-admiral, who pointed out that by doing so they were firing from Russian territory and not international waters. Also the missiles were passing through Iraqi and Iranian airspace en route to Syria, with the full permission of the governments’ of those countries.

When Farage got pilloried for stating that he admired Putin “as an operator” this exactly is the type of thing he was referring to. Putin has run rings around O’Bummer and Camerloon over Syria, they would be better off leaving it the Russians to sort it all out. Which they will, they are more than capable, just ask the Chechens.

I think we just need to compare the professional background of Putin with those of Cameron and Obama to realise why Cameron and Obama are such useless assholes. The BBC, what a bunch of tossers !

It would be amusing if it were not so serious. Putin has just completely wrecked Western foreign policy in the ME and I suspect many other places.
The West stands revealed as powerless and incompetent. There is nothing now to stop Putin imposing his will on eastern Europe. Not by military means perhaps but imposing it all the same.
Iran will now seek an accomodation with Russia as will countries further to the east.
The USA will retreat into isolation which is where it has wanted to go for some time.
At last Saudi Arabia will start to feel less secure and the Gulf States as well.
A real unforeseen event and one which will have consequences for years.
Liberalism meets reality in the form of the old nation state of Russia.
I really do not believe the West has a clue what to do now.
For my part this looks like something Russia has been planning for years. With Nato useless and it’s main rival Germany in chaos or approaching it then why not act?

Don’t worry about getting the statistics precise – that never bothered the BBC before, did it, ha ha. Then pick a young girl in a head scarf. You can edit in a voice over and do the dramatic count down afterwards as two Poles and a pale-looking French tax exile go through the barriers. It’ll all come out in the edit. This is the problem with using the word ‘Asian’ as a cover word for Moslem. It creates the kind of confusion so often pointed out here.

From the article by Robert Spencer.

‘The Daily Mail is a British paper, and in the British press, “Asian” is the universally-employed code word for “Muslim.” If this British paper is suddenly using the word to refer, as in the American custom, to people from China or Japan, they’re not saying so. It is also possible that the Sacramento police said they were looking for “Asians,” by which they really did mean Orientals, and the Daily Mail is too careless to note the difference in usage’.

Please don’t be sorry, the guy is a wet flip flopping waste of space, just another Dan Hannan. UKIP will be better off without him.

If he would rather have Cameron as a leader above a true Brit that can stand up and tell the truth (see speech yesterday) he ain’t worth having in the party. To be honest I’d be ashamed to admit to being a Tory supporter right now.

If immigration keeps topping the agenda he’ll lose his seat in 2020 and fully deserving of it.
