Long long drive today and I noticed the R4 news always lead on the Greek crisis.
Now that maybe interesting but the murder of now it seems arouind 30 of our people in Tunisia is going to be one of those key events that are of an order of magnitude somewhat greater than a row over the Euro.
It cannot be played down or airbrushed away however much our elites wish to do so,
From now on I would suggest that anyone visiting on holiday any of the Middle Eastern or south shore of the Med countries is actually irresponsible and lacking in an instinct for self preservation. Isis and it’s like have declared war on us. Those countries where they have their roots are just far too dangerous now to visit. The holiday trade is over. Finished for the foreseeable future. Our government is irresponsible if it does not recognise this.
No doubt the usual suspects will go on and on about statistics etc but the fact remains that these countries are now too dangerous for us .A holidaymaker does not have to go and I suspect that thousands of individual descisions have been made.
It is not ‘giving in’ to terrorists it is accepting the reality of a war that is intensifying daily.
The first duty of our government is to protect the nation. This is over and above any other consideration. So that means that we must control our borders in any way we choose.
Sorry liberals that means heavily restricting asylum and no appeals to our better nature. Listening to the BBC you would think that these realities are something that can be wished away by endless chattering.
They cannot and I would like the liberal elite to face up to things before it is too late for them and for us.

That’s what we ask ourselves in reply to a barely intelligible BBC reporter quite obviously picked for her tickbox value now on the beach in Tunisia.

What’s the trouble BBC, all senior white male reporters too busy worshipping at the shrine of Barry Obama?

I’ve nothing against Ms Jawad – except that she sucks at her job. And you suck at yours BBC. Hard to understand, confused emphasis from her mangling of English – and, frankly, disrespectful references to the perpetrator of this terror act.

American victims of a terror shooting recently got a personal visit from the President and a rendition of Amazing Grace.

What do we reckon Cameron will come up with? I think he’ll leave it to the BBC. A bit of karaoke chillaxing, wait a respectful moment or two, then move on like Billy Oh.

Wow! I think I just spotted something new and astonishing at the BBC.
The Guardian is apparently opining this morning that Greece should never have been allowed to be part of the Eurozone, and Grexit is probable and even desirable (I may have got this wrong, I am just going on how this was reported on the Today programme just now). So, this is presumably now a dominant strand of current left-liberal opinion.
The BBC, though, is astonishingly, and almost uniquely, departing from the line of its newspaper partner. The thrust of all its reporting language this morning – the interview with a Greek MEP, and Mr Peston’s comments – is uniformly that Grexit would be an unmitigated disaster for the Greek people, that it would represent a betrayal of them by their government, and that the call for a referendum has somehow ’caused’ the ECB to pull the plug on the Greek banks.
This is the first time I can recall the BBC being openly, indeed blatantly, in the pocket of the movement for European political union, that technocratic left-centrist fascism which is so uncomfortable with any expression of genuine democracy. It has shown its cards in no uncertain terms.
I had been expecting some internal conflict on the BBC’s part, faced with this ‘theatre of the left’, the conflict between European centralism and left-populism – which side would it come down on? Well, now we know – it is dedicated to the EU political project to the extent that it will discard and deride any democratic legitimacy in any of the EU’s ‘pseudo-sovereign’ states. I guess that what is new, for me, is the realisation that it will part company even with the British liberal-left in order to pursue this programme on behalf of what are evidently its new masters in Brussels and Strasbourg.
If this is true, then can we expect the BBC to simply set sail on a course of its own, anchored solely to that offshore political organisation, and finally divorced entirely from mainstream British opinion on the Left and the Right?

You have to understand – because the Greek left-wing Syriza group has made such a horlicks of the Greek Economy – the BBC have to protect their reputation – and their spin is that they should never have been in this position in the first place.

      Understand?

      • Rob in Cheshire says:

Syriza are indeed left wing barmpots, but they did not screw up the Greek economy. It was a basket case when they took power. The EU “bailouts” had shrunk the economy by 25%. Greece’s only hope for recovery is to leave the Euro and issue their own currency, but we will have to see if the Greek people have the national self-confidence to do this on Sunday. If they do, it will be a huge blow for the EU power structures, which is of course why the BBC is all for Greece staying in the Euro, even though it means economic disaster for the country. As far as the BBC is concerned, Greece has to take one for the team.

Cameron and the BBC sing from the same hymn sheet over Tunisia and ISIS. It will take time to defeat their narrative. He is taking Appeaser May with him to Tunisia – is she looking out for NAZIs as she indicated yesterday? Neither Cameron nor the BBC will identify the problem and threat with Islam itself, just the extremists.

D’you think this suppressive narrative is about to come undone, big-time? Everyone can see that it is Islam that is the seed-bed for jihadism – ‘radicalisation’ is just the watering can that develops the latent image of lunacy.
The only trouble is, if they let the cat out of the bag on this one, they will have to admit the truth about all the other anti-rational, anti-Enlightenment cults, movements and tendencies – Green zealotry, Gay Pride-ism, Neo-Feminism, not to mention all the traditional religions hoping to surf the wave and pick up lapsed members . Aggressive, radical scepticism about everything, a thorough-going and brave New Enlightenment – that is the only way to deal with the ‘irrationals’, from the Pope to the Caliphate..

Excellent post. The world view of the elite is about to implode. Fantasy meets reality on the beach in Tunisia.
The tragedy is that particularly in the West the elites are so enamoured of their fantasy worlds that they are literally now insane.
The vast majority of us never shared their world and have no time for it. That we allowed them time and space and the power to implement their absurdities is a reflection on us as well.
It will end this absurd world of theirs but with much pain and for that there can be no forgiveness.

Cameron is reported on the BBC as saying that IS poses “an existential threat to the West”. No, Mr Cameron, it’s the likes of you and the BBC that pose the existential threat to the West, with your schizophrenic policies of pissing off the Muslims of the world whilst simultaneously importing large numbers of them to Europe and then denying the problems you’ve caused. The comment the other day about “Islam being a religion of peace” was disgraceful: the correct message would have been “We will seek out and exterminate these killers regardless of who or what they are”.

This is a major story, as you say, particularly given the number of internationally renowned scientists who have dared poke their heads above the parapet to support Sir Tim, who was stitched-up by a raving loon and then hung out to dry by the head of UCL (who deserves both the sack and the widest possible exposure for his arrogant posturing).

So, no, the BBC will not report the truth about what actually happened. It is right on side with the loons, as it demonstrated with last week’s shameful ‘science’ programme on R4. I can’t remember its name – probably something like ‘Witchcraft Today’.

“Really? If you’re so against trivialising marriage, why do you stay silent about drive-thru wedding chapels in Vegas? ”

“: why should I expect a decent quality argument from a Biased BBC commenter?”
Says the petulant teenager who resorts to puerile ‘whataboutism’s’ rather than address the argument.
At least the last time we had this debate you lasted a whole 3 posts before resorting to ‘nah nah nah that’s you that is’
But I’m patient Scott so I’ll try again
In my view the value in marriage isn’t in the degree of superficial gratification it grants to any individual (however adorable you might think they are) but to the stability and cohesion it adds to society in general and the security it affords woman and children in particular.
The fact that it has been undermined already isn’t a reason to further undermine it.
Perhaps that’s what you mean by equality – the right to be as selfish and destructive as Britney Spears or Russell Brand?

The conservative ( not political) position is that the liberal left is using gay marriage as yet another way of undermining custom and tradition. It has nothing to do with gay marriage per se but everything to do with undermining a key component of our civilisation in order to break down and build the world into their fantasy desired future .
To put it bluntly . The left is not interested in gays being fulfilled by marriage. Marriage is the target and any weapon will be used to destroy it and the family.
I suppose the reasoning is that once marriage is deconstructed and becomes something not part of custom and tradition then the work is done.

Indeed it is telling that up until recently both the ‘liberal left’ and the old ‘hard left’ considered marriage a bourgeois anachronism , a meaningless piece of paper fit only for the dustbin of history. 19. Late result - BBC 42+ Grant Shapps 1 says:

An election campaign was running, so Tories had to be bashed.

    Accusations
The BBC picked up the story on both radio and TV, broadcasting this accusation on 42 separate occasions within 24 hours. And more since.

    Correction
Unless someone was listening to one specific 6pm radio broadcast, they would simply never know that the original story was entirely inaccurate. Indeed the correction was broadcast only once and lasted just 25 seconds:

Commenting Grant Shapps said, “The lack of desire to correct a false and misleading story, despite it having been broadcast on 42 separate occasions, does raise serious concerns for everyone who wants to see balanced coverage from the nation’s leading broadcaster. Incredibly a Millbank News Editor even rang me to claim that a single 25 second clip on one radio programme had effectively dealt with the matter. I’m a strong supporter of the BBC, but in this case insufficient care was taken to carry out even the most basic fact checks before running the original story. For example, the original claim was made by a single politically-driven administrator, rather than Wikipedia itself.

“Yet when the story fell apart the BBC did not seem to believe it was their job to update their viewers and listeners who had been mislead by their coverage in the first place. This would appear to breach Rule 5.2 of the Ofcom code and I have written to the Director of News and Current Affairs, James Harding, to ask him to investigate.”
