ELECTION DAY OPEN THREAD….

Well, the day of the General Election 2015 is upon us and here is a thread that can be used JUST to cover how the rotten BBC covers it. I’m afraid I won’t be around for the next few days due to a family bereavement so will catch up the other side of the Election.

as always the nasty left in action. And the Daily Mail has a slur on Farage for being homophobic today – my faith in this country’s institutions couldn’t be any lower than it is today

I too would consider it a slur had I been described as homophobic, I do not fear them as the word implies, although like most people I find their disgusting practices repulsive!

I never said he wasn’t entitled to an opinion. I just find his opinion bizarre. I honestly don’t understand why anybody would care. What business is it of anybody else? I don’t care whether somebody collects stamps or plays football on Sunday. Why is sex any different?

Schools don’t teach children to accept stamp collecting as being equivalent to a male/female relationship. Society doesn’t force the concept of stamp collecting into everyone’s psyche and you don’t have stamp collecting marches being arranged, including stamp collecting police officers, at the taxpayers expense. Neither, to my knowlege, has there ever been a proposal for zebra crossing made of stamps.

Indeed. That was of course the (thin end of the wedge as it has proved) reasoning behind the law change in the 1960’s, but as with so much of “rights” legislation it now appears to have developed to being a stick to beat those who do not think in an approved manner towards its public expression, such as owners who do not want it in their guest house bedrooms .

Being marked on your record as being an “Islamophobe” for not thinking the right way about the adherents of the religion of peace and their lifestyle is yet another seemingly on its way if we get it wrong today.

Vote UKIP, and get an Islamophobia law – if it wasn’t so serious it would be funny!

I think that B&Bs should have the right to turn anybody away – it could be a family home containing their children. if they don’t like the look of a customer, they should be free to say no. Chain hotels are a different matter – buy insurance against damage.

Ultimately, you’re free to hold whatever views you want, I just find this obsession with somebody else’s sex life to be a bit odd.

When it’s time for the gay pride street march in your town or city do you pop out and cheer them on?

Anybody an idea of how the police / local authority would react to a “dogging pride” march request?

Just a point. Labour forced through (if that is an acceptable use of words) gay sex at 16, but decided they are not old enough to resist the advances of anyone who has “influence” over them, but it is quite o.k. to engage with a complete stranger!

It does matter what they do in private, because, as will finally be admitted whan all the shyster incompetent researchers have died, collapse of the immune system is caused by drug taking and anal sex with multiple partners. No need to create a deadly virus to explain what happened. The great AIDS lie was a politically correct attempt to divert attention from the adverse health effects of living in the fast lane, and we all had to suffer the lies as result.

Feel free to call me a homophobic racist if you like, but anti-AIDS drugs, predominantly pushed on homosexuals and black people, have horrible deadly side effects, and poisoning them would be a great idea for anyone who was that way inclined. Freddy Mercury died of AZT poizoning, not AIDS, look up the side effects on any official medical website if you don’t agree with me.

agree Grimer – couldn’t care less what people get up to in their bedrooms – often drink in a gay pub as it is closest to me and get on with pretty much everyone there…in fact I sometimes find the atmosphere better in there than straight pubs where a couple of lagered up morons spoil the night for everyone else.

On the other hand a couple of non-pc jokes shouldn’t bother anyone – I a bald and a bit podgy these days and have heard plenty of jokes that relate to me but they just don’t bother me as they aren’t personal (a direct in my face would be different)

I notice BBC London tv ‘news where you are’ completely ignores this story this morning…

Police raid six London houses over ‘cold-calling scam connected to terrorism in Syria’

    http://www.standard.co.uk/news/crime/police-raid-six-london-houses-over-coldcalling-scam-connected-to-terrorism-in-syria-10229129.html

‘Counter terror detectives today arrested seven people…. At one address officers also arrested a 46-year-old woman in connection with an unrelated investigation into a 15-year-old school girl from Bethnal Green who is suspected of travelling to join Islamic State militants in Syria in December.’

The BBC preferring instead to go with ‘dozens of Hackney residents may not be able to vote’

‘Dozens’ being a BBC number down from yesterday evening when ‘hundreds’ were apparently going to be prevented from voting.

I sense some BBC narrative building on the vote registration thing – perhaps we will soon hear calls for voter registration to be directly linked to the doling out of UK passports?

As for the terrorism – very much a case of that tricky decision : news/not news.

Jeez ! The BBC has dredged up some left wing fantasist Bigot, who insists Thomas Jefferson owned a copy of the Qur’an (proudly) and one American swore his oath on it. Therefore he opines, Islam is deeply ingrained in the foundation of America !

He then goes on to lie & lie & lie without challenge, that drawing Mohammed is hate speech (how when it isn’t speech) and that Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller are ‘right wing’ because they tell the truth about Islam.

Typical of the BBC there’s no questioning of his lies and no one to put the other point of view at all.

And yet how the BBC loved insults to Christianity and Mormonism.

      “Protests as BBC screens Springer”
“At least 45,000 people contacted the BBC about the show, mainly to complain about swearing and religious themes.”
      http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/4154071.stm

“Book of Mormon musical well received by critics”
      http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-21894697

But al Beeba won’t even show a cartoon of Mo.

“After that some media outlets republished the pictures in solidarity or outrage, while others – including the BBC – have refrained from publishing them to avoid causing offence to their audiences.”
      http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/4693292.stm

So the BBC will happily offend Christians but avoids offending Muslims.

Jefferson did own a Koran. He bought one to try to understand the Islamic mentality. Having read it, he concluded that the reason for the Muslims’ enmity was that: “It was written in their Koran that all nations which had not acknowledged the Prophet were sinners, whom it was the right and duty of the faithful to plunder and enslave; and that every mussulman (Muslim) who was slain in this warfare was sure to go to [P]aradise”

The First Barbary War came about within days of Jefferson’s inauguration. At issue was the Barbary pirates’ demand for tribute from American merchant vessels in the Mediterranean Sea. If ships of a given country failed to pay, pirates would attack the ship and take their goods, and often enslave crew members or hold them for ransom. When Thomas Jefferson became President he refused to pay tribute and sent a United States Naval fleet to the Mediterranean; they bombarded the various fortified pirate cities, ultimately extracting concessions of fair passage from their rulers. In addition to seizing ships, they engaged in raids on European coastal towns and villages, mainly in Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal, but also in England, Scotland, the Netherlands, Ireland, and as far away as Iceland. The main purpose of their attacks was to capture Christian slaves for the Arab slave market in North Africa.

Funny that we never hear very much about that aspect of the slave trade…

Thomas Jefferson would be turning in his grave at the suggestion that he admired the Koran.

I’m completely with Old Goat on this. There is a very good chance that UKIP voters will help unseat our Tory MP in my constituency – and replace her with a Labourite.

I simply don’t care if we do. She is an utterly vacuous Cameroon, whose sole interest seems to be promotion to ministerial rank. She is pro-wind farms, pro-concreting over a deeply rural area, soft on immigration, soft on traditional conservative values… in what sense would a Labour MP be any worse?

Moreover, a short, sharp spell of the sort of Marxist chaos we would endure under Miiband and his Scottish pals might finally bring this country to its senses. There are far too many tribal voters in Britain and far too many who vote Labour due to a warped sentimentality which deludes them into thinking socialism is ‘nicer’ and ‘kinder’, when it is not. It always results in societal decay and economic ruin.

Maybe a few years of that will finally wake the English up to the menace of collectivism.

It’s time the temple was pulled down. Let the Conservative party perish. It’s had its day.

The trouble with Marxists is, OG, it wont be a short, sharp spell…they will put in place people (sleepers) pass laws and sign treaties (Libson for example) that are irreversible – steps that cement their view of the world and underpin it – another example being population replacement. Never again would the left trust the people of Britain after the common man voted for Thatcher and Major in their millions. The British man and woman would have to be tamed and replaced by people who would reward the left with their votes.

Brown / Bliar were bad enough…Miliband will be an altogether more dangerous proposition.

The left don’t do democracy. The left have no interest in the ordinary man and woman…only power and control.

I want a pragmatic right of centre majority Government to rule for everyone, not the left and the ‘Brothers’.

I voted Tory and it’s because I absolutely want that ‘red line’ EU referendum Cameron is now obligated to deliver. I have previously voted UKIP (in the last EU elections). I am simply not prepared to risk allowing Labour (with the SNP) to sneak into Downing Street, so it had to be a Tory vote.

I know this will make some here cross with me; I had to make a judgement and in the end I felt that it was important to stop Labour/SNP at any cost. I am in broad agreement with much of what UKIP say on immigration, the EU and climate change, but the need to fend off the threat from a socialist government in thrall to the SNP was too urgent to ignore. So mine was a purely tactical vote. Extreme emergencies call for an extreme response.

Cameron is not, nor has he ever, offered an honest full in or out referendum. What he has offered is a “reform or out” referendum. He is offering that knowing full well that he can get a few meaningless reforms that will require limited treaty amendments, which Junker has agreed to, so he can claim significant reform. And knowing that all the polls show a majority for staying in a reformed EU. Combine those with those who would vote to stay in the EU at any cost and Cameron could then safely win a referendum for staying in a reformed EU.

He also knows that he cannot possibly get all 27 other member states to ratify those reforms by 2018.

He also knows that most of those member states WILL veto the reforms we vote for, AFTER our referendum leaving us trapped inside an unreformed EU that Cameron will then claim we all voted for.

It’s a classic con technique known as “bait and switch”. Bait with reform then switch to “ever closer union” and leave us all trapped.

Hopefully those who tell us that they live abroad and have helped distort the true immigration picture and withdrawn their spending power from the economy, will stay out there to die, rather than crawl back like so many I have seen from Normandy when they are ill, or the other half passes on to load themselves back on the state over here.

Hopefully if we did withdraw from the EU and have taken residence status abroad they would need to apply to come back under UKIP’s points based system, so would probably not be deemed contributors to the economy.

Yes I live abroad, and have done so for fourteen years. Why ? because I could. The last time I looked the United Kingdom was a democracy, and being English born and bred am entitled to live where I want.

I served my country in the armed forces and put my life on the line for twats like you to make your uninformed comments.

I don’t distort the immigration figures, because I am not responsible for successive governments deciding how to audit and fiddle the figures.

Throughout my working life I have contributed a lot towards my pensions. Since living where I do I have contributed ten of thousands of pounds tax, to the UK for nothing in return. I also pay tax in my country of residence.

I have family, children, and grandchildren resident in the UK and care about the sort of country my generation have left them to live in. That’s why I voted UKIP.

Your stupid, ill-informed, selfish comments tells me all I need to know about you, I suggest you stick to ‘trainspotting’. People with attitudes like yours are one good reason why I left.

Unless the people of this country wake up and realise that it has been brought to the brink of destruction by the panoply of collectivist rule (from the EU, to immigration, to education policy, the NHS… there is no end to it) then we will, finally, teeter over the edge into complete irrelevance as a nation.

I remember the LIb lab pact even if BBC don’t

‘In March 1977 the Labour Government, left with no overall majority following a by-election defeat, faced a motion of no confidence. In order to remain in office, Prime Minister James Callaghan approached the Liberal Party under the leadership of David Steel. Callaghan had been prime minister for just one year, having succeeded Harold Wilson who had led Labour to a three-seat majority in October 1974.

An agreement was negotiated, under the terms of which the Labour Party accepted a limited number of Liberal Party policy proposals and in exchange, the Liberal Party agreed to vote with the government in any subsequent motion of no confidence. While this ‘pact’ was the only official bi-party agreement since the Second World War (until the Conservative–Lib Dem coalition following the 2010 election), it fell far short of a coalition. The Lib–Lab Pact’s end was confirmed on 7 September 1978,[1] by which time Callaghan was expected to call a general election, but instead he decided to continue as leader of a minority government until May 1979, when after a vote of no confidence it was forced to hold a general election, in which Margaret Thatcher led the Conservatives back into power.’

So if Milband ‘crow-barred’ his way in to Number 10, as he is threatening, it would be difficult (even with a vote of no confidence, as you rightly say) to get rid of the bugger.

Imagine the damage that he will do in that time.

The electorate have repeatedly shown that they do not like taking the necessary medicine.

After 13 years of government cash growing on trees there is a mindset that the government has limitless funds to spend on “me”, indeed more than 50% of the population are net recipients from the “system”.

Anyone who tells you that is not going to continue is rather less likely to get elected.

A majority on here may think the government should not pay cash benefits for more than two children. It could have all sorts of beneficial outcomes but taking away a benefit is a vote loser. Bus passes are costing way more than ever expected. Make them pay 50p a trip you may say, and I would agree, but we would not get elected.

Can you imagine the BBC adverts “Have you been affected by the reduction in child benefit, having to pay 50p” as they trawl to find the hardest hard luck cases to broadcast to show the heartless government up?

Laughed ( not so much) at Peter Sellers in the film ‘I’m all right Jack’
Witnessed Barbara Castle attempt to place sense and order into it via ‘ in place of strife’ and seen it abandoned.
Watched comrade Scargill betray his own members, simply using them as his shocktroops, while he lived in luxury, whilst phase one of pit closures had happened on a massive scale under Benn ( hero of the left, and a literal saint) and wilson, and all ignored by the media and commies, even though it was larger than thatchers.
Oh yes….many of us have been there, and witnessed to 1997 to 2010 Labour government reopening those once profitable mines as fast as they could….last time I looked the count was up to….errr…zero…

The BBC is torn. It hates UKIP but thinks they can hurt the Conservatives. However the BBC is worried that UKIP might appeal to Labour voters so needs to play down UKIP policies which appeal to those voters.

    Hence in the BBC’s summary of party policies we see;
Green – Axe the “bedroom tax” and work capability assessment
DUP – Abolition of so-called bedroom tax
Alliance – Repeal the “bedroom tax”
Plaid Cymru – Scrap Bedroom Tax
SNP – Immediate abolition of “bedroom tax”
Respect – Scrap the so-called “bedroom tax”
Labour – Scrap the “bedroom tax”
UKIP – Scrap housing benefit changes related to bedrooms

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/election/2015/manifesto-guide

UKIP’s manifesto uses the phrase ‘bedroom tax’ so why on this issue would the BBC uniquely not use it for UKIP but use it for every other party with the same policy? The answer is obvious.

Whatever you think on the ‘bedroom tax’, which I think is an Orwellian misnomer for a policy I fully support, this is an example of how the BBC is campaigning to undermine UKIP appeal in Labour seats.

Hand outs to make you a Labour voter for ever or a hand up to help you make something of yourself?

If hand outs work why hasn’t Scotland become a prosperous thriving nation able to stand on its own two feet after 40 years of the Barnett formula?

And for all those people being sanctioned by the DWP, the question is what part of your side of the bargain intended to get you to help yourself have you failed to comply with? Not bothered to attend courses, failed to turn up for interviews etc.?

As somebody reminded us the other day if you are renting privately at the nation’s expense the spare bedroom is not funded (introduced by Labour apparently) but if you are in a “social house” with the cost being funded by the taxpayer (if you work and pay your “council” rent it matters not how many bedrooms you have) it was.

Apparently, the senior Conservative politicians at the gay orgy were busy celebrating Mrs Thatcher being elected as Conservative leader, followed by a spot of sex with rent boys. He had a diary from the time, but after showing it to the BBC, decided to burn it, as you do with vital evidence. The BBC just thought that the week of a general election would be a good time to mention all this, and why not?

Just the way these things work out, of course, but funny how they do ‘work out’ in certain ways, especially since Ed Miliband let picture editors of BBC integrity know that their futures depended on getting Candidate No. 3 in power by any means, fair or foul.

I just hope the left wing in this country, that is becoming increasingly vile, anti-British, anti-democratic and fascist in its behaviour, gets a bloody nose that it doesn’t recover from today. This election campaign has been deeply depressing for me. I have never seen so much open hatred coming from the left towards both the Conservatives and UKIP. It makes me wonder who exactly are the “compassionate” voters out there, because it certainly isn’t those on the left!

Sorry, Steve, but I thnk we are past the turning point. The Left, fast becoming The Hard Left, have steadily infiltrated the country’s institutions i.e. the BBC, education, science, the police, health, charities – not to mention subversive campaign groups such as the UAF, Hope Not Hate etc. who behave like branches of Hitler’s SS – that politics is fast becoming irrelevant.

      This really takes the biscuit.

Any sales rep or marketer will tell you how powerful it can be to subtly highlight the choice you want them to make (by nodding your head if you want them to say ‘yes’, for example). Psychologists have a term for it – anchoring.

I hope that the other parties complain to the BBC about this in the loudest and strongest possible terms.

Parties complaining seldom works well for them.

Mind you, the public doing so doesn’t have much effect either.

This one is pretty blatant, but clearly can only fall under ‘bias’ category, which makes the CECUTT drones fall about laughing when they come in.

Will be interesting to see the responses that come back.

I suspect a fair few will write in enough that the BBC needs to rush out a quick, template ‘we note you… but sod off… we value your input’ dismissal in hope most do not persist.

At the end of the day an ECU Director or Trust Appeal Committee (with the wife of a staffer who is tweeting non-stupid stuff under his ‘views my own, but I work for the BBC’ persona will get comfortable in their belief that this was just a happy coincidence.

        Again.

Perhaps like the U-boat commander in the the Dads Army scene the names have been noted in a little book and if it all goes tits up as a result and they have the temerity to write in to complain about some aspect of policy being visited upon them the response must be to ask what did you do in the war?

So much of the advertising produced by ad agencies is of a subtle nature looking to reach the subconscious mind with imagery. My creative director made the first ever two minute commercial in the early 70s for the Ford Capri. It featured Martin Shaw driving across Europe and picking up a hitch hiker. The commercial allowed the viewer to examine the features of the car without being overtly sold to while he, a married man, flirted with his female companion. Wrong on so many levels today! It was hugely liked and partly responsible for the success of the car. By chance Martin Shaw was back the BBC last night playing George Gently. The whole hour and a half plot was an homage to the poor working man taken advantage of by the posh, rich ruling elite. And this was verbalised by George Gently (gently does it) more than once. Probably a coincidence, but let’s face it powerfully moving stuff the night before the election

They are convinced of a Kipper victory , but even with a handful of seats , they would need the Tories to get a referendum. They think if the Marxist Millipeed /SNP get in it would all collapse within a few months . Incredible damage would be done to the country in that time. It doesn`t pan out Millipeed would call another election very soon if ,ever . The right are just crap at street protests , very little would happen, except Millipeed would keep himself in power like Mugabe.

Yes indeed. We can all read. I was selecting the relevant bit. I can quote the whole post if you like.

‘“You really don’t understand that there is no fundamental difference between Labour and the Tory parties, they are bourgeois liberals that differ only by degree”

Either they differ or they do not differ. If they differ you make my point for me. If they are all just “bourgeois liberals” in your eyes you are beginning to sound like a Fascist. You will be ranting about gays and Jews next. ‘

If you call that dissembling you ought to renew your acquaintance with a dictionary.

Again. I repeat. We can all read.

“originally having likened me to Putin”

When I posted it I originally said Putin. Correct. I changed it to Fascist after seeing it posted, because I thought there was a chance the Putin reference might go over your head. I wanted you to be clear what I was saying.

Or is this ‘not news’ by chance?

As we go to vote, this is his latest tweet:

    Wage war on Muslims
    Legalise haram

Now excuse me but do they not send MPs to Westminster ? Not even Sinn Fein was mentioned let alone DUP or UU. Now excuse me but does not Ulster send more MPs to Westminster than the miserable PC ? But even the useless Leanne ( an escapee from Sky’s Stella if ever I saw one) who if she is lucky will get the grand total of 4 seats gets mentioned. How does the bbc square up this obvious bias against parties from NI rather than Wales ? More seats, open to any party to stand and the local parties just like in Scotland and Wales only stand at home ? Any excuse bbc ?
