START THE WEEK OPEN THREAD…

Sorry for the delay in publishing this NEW Open Thread but I have been watching the euphoria with which the BBC greeted the SNP manifesto launch! The hard left Caledonian marxism from Sturgeon and co seems to stimulate the Comrades. I will now open the floor to YOU!

I remember watching a programme on the BBC as a child (in the Seventies) when Charles Wheeler showed a graph explaining that immigrants (contrary to Enoch Powell) in the future would still only be a tiny proportion of the population, even with the highest predicted growth rates.

Well we are living in the future and that claim is completely wrong. I remember at the time (even though I was not concerned about it) thinking “I bet that is wrong”. When I think about it now it was just a blatant lie.

BBC journalists at that time were given instructions to be careful when reporting stories about these immigrants. They were not to use language that would incite hatred against the new immigrants. Pity they are not instructed today in a similar way not to broadcast biased views and slander against the Jewish State which incites hatred against the Jews .

BBC overt political bias. They have let the mask slide too far. Each day, more previously trusting people are becoming aware of how they are being conned by the BBC’s propaganda. The Beeboids have no concept of the long term social damage that they have done and are doing to our nation.

BBC Radio Manchester this morning and some drone was on Oldham market asking about the election. Nothing you haven’t heard before … one wishes he could vote for Sturgeon, one will vote Labour to save the NHS, one will vote UKIP because of immigration immediately followed by one who believes immigration and the EU is a good thing (see what they did there?). None of this was from the horse’s mouth just the presenter relaying what people had said. It could have been all made up. Then a genuine interview with a … Khan who had voted Tory and was now switching to Labour. Why? Buddabuddabuddabudda … couldn’t understand a word he was saying. I know now that when Andrew Neil says ‘public service broadcasting at it’s best’, he’s taking the piss.

George Galloway was in Oldham a few days ago, and they have a ‘respect’ candidate. Given that the Labour majority over the Fib Dems was (and has been) around 10% it could turn the seat into a marginal.
Only two parties can win, the rest are far too low in the polls. Just a matter of how many votes Respect will take from Labour.

Thinking back to the coverage by the BBC of the 2010 election, there was an economics guru politician who virtually lived in the BBC studios as they (successfully?) fought a damage limitation exercise, knowing that Labour were unelectable, to big up the Liberal Democrats.

That politician was one Vince Cable. Has his opinion been asked this time?

This election the Liberal Democrats are effectively invisible on the BBC whereas they had 25%, or more?, of the air time in 2010. I suppose the BBC have never forgiven them for stabbing them in the back after all their support by going into coalition with the Tories.

If there are any Lib Dem supporters on the site, do you feel the coverage you have received from the BBC since entering government (from news and current affairs and “humour” departments) has been up to the standards of impartiality proclaimed by the BBC?

Despite appearances to the contrary on the site at present you do not need to add at the end of your message who you are voting for this time.

    The Goons must hate these…

This clever device transmits a TV signal via Wifi to an Android device, it requires a free app which if you convert your TV to an Android TV with an inexpensive USB dongle you can pull all your aerial cables, but still watch live TV. Its even possible to record, by connecting an external drive.

Of course I don’t condone breaking the law, but I’m guessing it would be hard to detect as it transmits through your home wifi network and the normal proof of not needing a licence is to remove all aerial connections.

Again technology is moving ahead of the archaic licence fee.

The ‘loose connection’ problem is causing havoc this morning.

There were constant technical breakdowns during Major’s ‘Kippers Come Home’ plea. Sky, of course, went off for a couple of commercial breaks. The Beeb would cut away to Milipede for a while. But at 11:22 they had a big BREAKING NEWS stunt with graphics, sound, the works. The Captain of the sunken immigrant boat has been charged and deaths are ’30 times what they were during the same period last year’. Let’s ignore the probably dodgy ‘period’ chosen for effect; this breaking story that interrupted Major’s big speech was so ‘breaking’ that my mother heard it (7am radio news?) hours earlier. Lynton Crosby must have been watching; furious!

Then on DP, Brillo humiliated Labour’s Shadow Health Minister Jamie Reed. Reed resorted to answering something Brillo never asked. Brillo wasn’t having it: ‘I know you hear me; you needn’t try to filibuster…’ At this brutal point, the link went dead.

Worth watching this one – from 20:48

I know we have all been worried about the three jihadi schoolgirls.

Fear not, as it would seem their mission has been successful:

“The three east London schoolgirls who fled the UK for Syria have joined a fearsome group of British female jihadis who run the lslamic State’s ultra-religious police force, it has been reported.

Shamima Begum and Amira Abase, both 15, and Kadiza Sultana, 16, crossed over the Turkish-Syrian border last February and are believed to be living in the Syrian city of Raqqa.

Begum has forged social media links with three of the British leaders of the al-Khansa brigade – an all-women militia set up by the terror group a year ago – and it is understood the trio are now training with one of the notorious females arms of ISIS.

Covered in black from head-to-toe and wielding automatic weapons, the group has been accused of doling out savage beatings on the streets of Raqqa and spying on its citizens.

They are said to mercilessly patrol the streets of the terror group’s adopted capital and has previously declared children as young as nine should be married, women should obey men – who are their masters – and remain ‘hidden and veiled’ at all times.”

Major had just spent half an hour stirring up fears of extremism, only for Paddy to very effectively piggyback onto his theme. It could be argued that the use of ‘b**tards’ was necessary to vividly remind viewers that Major had similar problems with the Conservative Party. The use of such language is always a difficult decision, but, on balance, on this occasion, we probably…

Sound quality. Again. BBC News. Lunchtime.

This time it’s what them sound engineers call ‘noise’, with a nice low volume level. You can hear what is being said, but it gives an ‘amateurish’ feel through the production. The event was the Green Party education talkshop. Their spokeswoman brought her little boy with her. Mumsnet will be engaged. Politics? It was painful and I couldn’t watch. BBC low volume / ‘noise’ combinations have now been broadcast on BBC News , during this election, when covering the Greens (today) and previously Nick Clegg (who the BBC is giving little to no coverage) and Nigel Farage (mixture of sound defect techniques with Farage).

Radio 4 ‘Today’ goes off to the West country to investigate the reaction to the death (natural) of a local Police officer. They say that people today don’t trust the Police, but instead of telling the truth about why, they claim it’s because of “Stephen Lawrence” their great totem, and other similar cases.
There’s no mention of the moratorium Nu Liebour placed on prosecuting the crimes of Pakistanis, and Bangladeshis, being their favourite brown eyed boys and allowed to do what ever they want.

There was no mention of Police arresting the victims and families of victims of the Pakistani Muslim rape gangs. No mention of the drug dealing the Police turned a blind eye to, nor the very enthusiastic prosecution of Political Correctness.

You cannot trust the Police to take any reasonable action on your behalf is there is an ‘Asian’ involved.

It’s a measure of the BBC’s complete inability to master even basic logic that it can write the headline ‘Another last chance….’

There can only be one ‘last chance’ – otherwise it wasn’t the last one.

The person who wrote that story seems eminently suited to regurgitating the tripe dished out by climate astrologers. And to holding down a job with an organisation as institutionally dim as the BBC.

Such things surely require investigation and official response at the highest levels?

At the most basic level it has always intrigued me that a bozo in a hoodie can turn up claiming official sanction.

Sure a uniform means little more, but in this day and age I’d be dubious letting anyone over the threshold dressed as most TVL sales guys do.

It’s like they know they don’t have to bother.

They were interviewing someone from the Socialist Labour Party (? – Never ‘eard of ’em, all though their “leader” is Arthur Scargill – I thought he was dead) this morning, with few, if any interruptions. He must be a BBC ‘goody’.

Then we had sing-song Tom Fielden with a short piece on James (Gaia) Lovelock, telling us, well, nothing about the climate.

Then, later, another short piece, this time with Brian Hoskins, telling us even more, well, nothing, about the climate, political interest in climate change, and a small plug for Paris. What was all that about, then?

“Analysis conducted by the Mail lays bare the union’s grip on Ed Miliband.

After Cameron on the Andrew Marr show on Sunday ducking questions about benefit cuts, is it any wonder they are pulling out of debates?.
Newsnight evasion by Tories on benefits, or is that …”welfare”
… IDS?, (don t be silly, far too much of a coward), its Mark Harpers turn to do the disappearing act and, surprise surprise!, apparently the Selfservatives could not be contacted for comment?.
What? … on the poorest, most vulnerable, their erm “record” … what about the “welfare” cuts, the appalling number on sanctions
How very strange … isn t there an election on?.
On three occasions (including Cameron) yesterday, Tories butted in when supposedly discussing world issues, to overtly continue to lie about their record on the economy again …
Hmm … The Tories “a lie a day” election continues with, “a bigger lie a day”, obviously, from now on

As someone who obviously has his finger on the pulse can you advise the real reasons that the DWP put people on sanctions.

I thought it was usually that the person receiving benefits was not keeping to their side of the bargain, but I could be wrong.

Nearly fifty per cent of people assessed as fit for work win their appeals. Maybe there’s a clue there. The question you should ask is why are people with cancer and other serious illness being treated like this, (while Call Me Dave rushes to be Mr Generosity to illegal immigrants)? Inappropriate use of ‘payment-by-results’ perhaps.

oops! not interested in another Tory no show then … more refusal to face scrutiny?, more diversion and repeated lies by Cameron and co?.
      Hmm ok,
Welfare recipients including the disabled sick, terminally ill have all been branded benefit scroungers by this coalition.
If sanctioned, or sanctioned and you appeal, you don t go on the unemployment figures, and cross-party report endorsed by the Archbishop of Canterbury suggested that sanctions are in large part to blame for the growing use of food banks. you could say, the reason the Government is doing this is that it gets them off the JSA claimant figures, so it looks like there are fewer people unemployed.
But hey, if its so just so easy to argue about it, why yet another Tory no show on Newsnight eh!.

“Torygraph … minister says some benefit sanctions are ‘inhuman’
“Nick Boles, the business minister, says that sanctions in some cases ‘are a worry’ and may have to be reformed”
Gillian Guy, chief executive of Citizens Advice, said the four-week sanctions were also “wreaking havoc with people’s ability to find work”.

  46. Umbongo says:

In its latest propaganda fest in respect of “climate change” on Today this morning Tom Fielden – a BBC “science” correspondent – allowed James Lovelock to speak uninterrupted on the distress (ie Lovelock’s and the BBC’s) that “climate change” issues aren’t further up the priorities list of the politicians.
In the best deliberately misleading traditions of the BBC and “climate change” nutters generally Lovelock issued a half-truth concerning Mrs T’s part in all this. In the 80’s Mrs T had indeed warned the world about “global warning” and Lovelock praised her mightily for doing so. What Lovelock ignored – and Feilden (an “impartial” journalist remember) didn’t mention – was that in 2003 Mrs T almost completely recanted from her earlier views as reported here. As Booker writes “the fact that she became one of the first and most prominent of “climate sceptics” has been almost entirely buried from view”. Leading the “buriers” is, of course, the BBC.
The mendacity and lying by the warmists will get worse as the Paris meetings get nearer. As an observation, I suspect that if Miliband is PM at that time (or, now I think about it, Cameron) I would be very surprised if he didn’t put the UK down for an annual subscription to the international kleptocracy struggle against “climate change” equal to or in excess of the annual cost of the NHS.

Beeboids and ‘Camp of the Saints.’

Beeboids’ other main political campaign, apart from getting Labour elected, is to speed up the complete colonisation of Europe by open-door, mass immigration from Africa and Asia (notably from Islamic countries).

Beeboid ‘reporters’ on this have embedded themselves with illegal immigrants, and such ‘reporters’ see European countries as legitimate targets for mass immigration.

Again, Beeboids show blatant political bias for mass immigration in this, and they do not represent the interests of European societies, nor do they look to the irresponsible consequences of their political campaigning on Europe, inc U.K.

      “Lifeboat Ethics:

the Case against Helping the Poor.”

“Some say they feel guilty about their good luck. My reply is simple: ‘Get out and yield your place to others.’ This may solve the problem of the guilt-ridden person’s conscience, but it does not change the ethics of the lifeboat. The needy person to whom the guilt-ridden person yields his place will not himself feel guilty about his good luck. If he did, he would not climb aboard. The net result of conscience-stricken people giving up their unjustly held seats is the elimination of that sort of conscience from the lifeboat.”
