I haven’t understood the Beeb’s ‘line to take’ on the Dewani case. I would have anticipated them being pro the justice delivered by a non apartheid South Africa. But to me the reporting has very much shown sympathy for Dewani against his revengeful in-laws and the SA law system. But even on a case like this the Beeb fills their reporting with lots of opinion (and excitement in the reporters voices when Dewani was released) they are just unable to give us straight facts.
‘Panorama depicted DV as perpetrated only by men with women as victims, and children as incidental victims. Women were presented fleetingly as perpetrators only in same-sex relationships and there was no mention at all that men could be victims or that fathers might sometimes need to protect their children from DV.’
Left/liberals demand ‘gender-free’ terms for all things, but they continue to use terms like ‘battered wives’ and ‘single mums’ because they cast women as sole victims.
I caught a brilliant piece about this on 5 barely alive on Wed morning’s show. I think it was Rachael Burden interviewing Justin Lee Collin’s ex partner who famously destroyed the hirsute ‘comedian’ by outing him as a abusive ‘coercive control’ freak.
Collin’s ex told the listeners how Collins charmed her, drew her into his evil web and then manipulated every part of her life, Burden put on her best ‘concerned’ tone of voice.
Burden then invited another expert guest, a woman of course, to add to the coercion practice, this is where it got interesting.
The guest (who’s name for the life of me I can’t remember) then launched into Collin’s ex, saying, “why didn’t you leave”, the reply was, “I couldn’t, I was hooked” to which the guest said…”Was there a door on the property you shared, if there was you could have walked away at any time”!! Brilliant.
The silence was deafening! Burden tried to explain that it wasn’t as easy as that, the reply? “Yes it is”. The guest then launched a tirade against the media (in particular the bbc) for how their reporting fails to take into account the amount of abuse that is used in relationships against men, Burden offered a withering reply of, “err, we have actually done a report on this” in a way that I doubt she believed herself.
The woman had the biggest balls on the show…including Nicky Campbell! She ripped the bbc argument apart and I doubt she will appear on the beeb any time soon.
The Question Time “audience” busted…..Filled with such “ordinary members of the public” as Bunni La roach of the SWP…..because Farage was on of course and not to forget, her fellow traveller Russell Brand..
Interesting point to me is the ANC is in charge yet the bbc don’t think people should go there, I agree not because of the justice system but the crime and the poor way the country is now run. Glad the bbc agree.

Yes, they have a message and they do whatever they want to get the message across – never let facts get in the way of a good story!!

Different Panorama, I know, but worth bringing up.

I’ve always thought of Jeremy Vine as an ill-informed, sensationalising, speculative no-mark. This report is a little more forensic!
