Patten’s hardly out the door when:

BBC’s Nicky Campbell launches scathing attack on Lord Patten over female broadcasters debate

Nicky Campbell, the BBC Radio 5 Live broadcaster, has claimed that Lord Patten was “ignorant” of the number of talented female broadcasters already working at the BBC when he called for more women on air.

Campbell launched a blistering attack on the BBC Trust Chairman, who has stepped down following major heart surgery.

“He’s just so ignorant,” Campbell told Radio Times. “It drives us mad at 5 Live because we’ve got some of the greatest female broadcasters in the country and he only listens to Radio 4 and 3.”

Campbell added: “If I was Chairman of the BBC, I would have made it my task to find out what was on the BBC, wouldn’t you?”

“Though in a way it’s quite good that this man at the heart of the British Establishment, a life in ermine, doesn’t really know about 5 Live because we’re a little bit of a cuckoo in the nest at the BBC.

Good to know that the man in charge of editorial standards and complaints didn’t actually know what was going on at the corporation.

Perhaps he could have sent in an F.O.I. request? 😉

Nicky Campbell… the BBC… – red rag to a bull – excuse me while I rant a bit.

I used to listen to BBC Radio 4 but eventually fled in the face of that station’s unrelenting bourgeois leftism.

Settling on BBC 5 Live in hope of hearing some sport without being preached BBC metropolitan liberal attitudes – I was to be sadly disappointed.

Other presenters were irritating in their badge-wearing right-on posturing; Nicky Campbell was, to my mind, the consumate archetype.

Smug, celebrity, love-me-love-me, pretentious, cod-acedemic, cod-scientific, cod-anticlerical. A slimey showmanship-minded cause-campaigner. Social media bore – promoting the entire inconsequential Twitterati rainbow of oddball mohamedans, feminist attention seekers, poncified shortbread biscuit tin banging Scots, cuddly-wuddly aminal over human urban dwellers, and basic sad starstruck sychophants.

He’s the bastard son of Ester Rantzen – a programmed tearjerker, “does my hair look fat in my long lost talent?”

“No PAYE for me thanks, excuse me while I’m shop stewarding on my male moisturizing soap box for Salford.”

A back history of carefully planned hissy fits aimed squarely at the gallery intended to bolster his own coffee latte rabble rousing credibility.

He’s the irritating git that just happens to have brought his guitar along with him – a la David Brent.

This present outburst confirms everything. The deliberate postured left stance of the channel is admitted. I have long recognised Campbell’s apparent attitudes to be a weather vane indication of BBC management thinking. And here he is dog whistling the post-Patten intention to persue ever leftward back sliding from Charter neutrality toward the feminised upland.

I don’t think Nikki Campbell realises that Victoria Derbyshire and Shelagh Fogarty are ‘hideously white’.

I haven’t read the Radio Times article, but its actually quite difficult to understand the context that Saint Nicky was making these comments.

I would have thought that this is one area (live broadcasting, that is) where positive discrimination genuinely cannot work, so if he is advocating a higher balance of femail presenters then fine, but it is something which is entirely merit based.

Let me explain- it takes a particular skill to be able to talk/ interview/ discuss and do such stuff in a live broadcasting environment, whilst there are editors and such others talking in your ear all the time, sometimes to you, sometimes about you, and sometimes with no relevance to you at all. A friend of mine, who on the face of it matched all the requirements you could imagine of a presenter, failed an audition because of this aspect.

One thing though, in what way is “Live 5 a cuckoo in the nest” I wonder? They produce the same old leftist claptrap as the rest so far as I can see.

The BBC is a cuckoo. They greedily feed off the taxpayer and try to push out all its rivals from the media nest. Personally however I see Nikki Campbell as more of a tit.

Isn’t this just the perfect BBC story? They’re all either wailing about the sex ratios or patting themselves on the back about giving ‘under-represented’ women a break, but how about that other split in the population?

Any talented conservative broadcasters at Five? At all? Ever? What does Dame Niki think we should do about that?

That’s a coincidence. I’m listening to one of those “greatest female broadcasters” right now.

Victoria Derbyshire is currently allowing every Socialist she can find on air to bullshit their way entirely unchallenged through explaining today’s strike action.

She’s utterly ****ing hopeless. Ill informed, biased, lazy, contemptuous of the very, very few texts, tweets or emails that make it to air of the opposite opinion, and all the while making bizarre pauses and sounding as if she has just woken up.

I can only assume she gives a phenomenal blowjob. Sadly her Five Live career is ending, coincidentally I’m sure, as fewer of the male upper management than ever seek such female attention.

Adrian Chiles, however, takes over in September…

This might be an opportune moment to bring back the Black and White Minstrel Show. At least it complies with the BBC’s idea of “balance” – at least superficially. Somehow having equal numbers of a thing, is “fair”. BBC is greatly over-representing “white middle class left-wing pricks” (TM Pat Condell)
