    Traitors in our midst……….

    • ChrisL says:

It takes a certain kind of dedication to ignore all the coverage the BBC is rightly giving the D-Day comemmorations, across TV, radio and online, and pick on this as supposed evidence of the BBC’s ‘anti-Britishness’.

      • Roland Deschain says:

        Did someone mention anti-Britishness?

        Or just tastelessness?

‘Indicative’. Excellent basis for the POETS shift weighing in.
Next thing you’ll be saying it’s not news as there is other news and it’s just not, so there.

Quisling welcomed the Nazi invasion of Norway, and that made him a traitor.
He tried to start off a Nazi-type party in his own country in the 20s and 30s, but his manifestos were soundly rejected by the voting public, his party never getting over 10% of the vote.

Indeed all that is true. But he did it because he thought Norway needed it. He betrayed his fellow countrymen to save his beloved country.

He was both a patriot and a traitor and a complete shit to boot.

Poor old Jeremy Hardy, eh? If Margaret Thatcher had never lived, he’d be a street sweeper, or shovelling sh*t on a building site. He should be giving thanks to Maggie every night, before he goes to bed. Whenever he turns up on a Radio4 panel show, I think “Ah, yes – and here comes the Maggie gag in 5,4,3…”

BBC sending more staff to Glastonbury than World Cup – http://www.theguardian.com/media/2014/jun/06/bbc-staff-glastonbury-world-cup-brazil-2014

Apparently you need 300 staff to film a music event…

    • Mavis Michael says:

How many should they send? Would 200 be enough, or would that also be too many? What if it was 350? Would that be far too many?

My point is, these type of stories are always presented as ‘BBC send xxx number of staff’. What does the average lay person know about how many it would reasonably take? How much do most people know about what’s involved in covering an event like this? How many music stages are there? how many days coverage? Is it TV and radio, and online, and Red button, how many radio stations, for how many hours?

I have no idea. I’d wager not many readers would. So how can any of us be in a position to comment on whether the staffing levels are excessive.

That’s not a defence of the BBC, it’s just something that always annoys me. The story is obviously presented in such a way as to suggest its excessive, but how can you or I know that?

      • Guest Who says:

Great questions Mavis (welcome by the way).
Who is qualified to ask them? And who to answer (assuming they could, or would… FOI exemptions ‘n all)?
I’m sure you are not advocating no one asks, as that would just be Lord Patten all over again, which hasn’t worked so well.
Usually market forces and/or shareholder dictate such things. But of course the territory here is very much ‘unique’.
Usually the least worse way is to compare apples with apples and how others in the market rate talent field tackle such tasks. Beyond actually tying audience interest to resources committed, sadly the BBC’s record is not great here. Even if the numbers add up on willing eyeballs, often commercial rivals appear to do pretty well at a fraction of the cost with many fewer staff, especially with topical news coverage. And the VIP tents don’t seem quite so packed on the public teat as the BBC can muster from its roster.
But glad indeed it’s not a defence of the BBC, and in no way advocating maybe all is best left to trust, as has been, and in some eyes always should be.

It is a good question and without the full facts on what everyone is doing, difficult to answer. I know anecdotally from my wife who worked until very recently in TV for close on 40 years for both the BBC and others, plus from friends who have also worked for various broadcasters as camera crew and journalists that it’s a running joke in the industry that what would take (say a to-camera news item) Sky or ITV 2 people to film – a presenter and a cameraman/sound recordist would take the BBC at least 10 people. Having been on-site at news events you can always spot the BBC as there’s a crowd of people.

In 2009 the BBC sent 415. Of those 290 were technicians (130 of them hired just for the event so not staff).
I am not sure the comparison with the World Cup is all that useful given Glastonbury is basically a field so everything from generators to OB units has to be brought in. One assumes (and given Brazil’s state of readiness this may be a rash assumption) that the technical infrastructure is in place.

As someone who could be correctly be described as a Geordie (born on Tyneside) and brought up in Durham, I would call myself 100% English.
I went to a school in Durham which was built on the site of the Battle of Neville’s Cross (1346). In fact the address was Redhills Lane. The epithet “Redhills” was because the hills were red with the blood of the Scottish invaders. If some shit for brains sweaty bint thinks that those in northern england don’t regard themselves as English then I think she should get her head out of her thistle lined arsehole..

The nationalist Scot has a list of myths that he/she will always be ready to peddle: Scottish soldiers always get put over the top first; Geordies and those from the north think as themselves as more Scottish (utter nonsense); the weather reports always leave out Scotland out; Scottish oil keeps England afloat; the Scots are loved abroad while the English are hated; the Scots are tougher than the ENglish; the English kicked the Scots off their land (in fact it was clan chiefs and Scottish nobles he did this to make way for sheep); English sports media are so biased (even though Scottish commentators practically talk the ball into the net when Scotland are playing). The list is endless and you will find that the list is the same in every pub from Stornoway to Kelso.

Pastor James McConnell has apologised publicly for any distress.

“Mr Robinson told the Irish News that he would not trust Muslims involved in violence or those devoted to Sharia law. But he said he would “trust them to go to the shops” for him. His remarks caused anger and hurt.
A Belfast hospital consultant Dr Samina Dornan said Muslim staff had been very hurt by it and that he should apologise publicly. Mr Robinson later said his remarks had been misinterpreted, and met Muslim leaders in Belfast to apologise. ”

… Actually his objections should have stuck to the facts, on Islam, and the media coverage be used to nail them.
But … the BBC would maybe, not have been so vociferous in that case. Once again the MSM in collusion with powers that be, turn into freedom of speech, and thought police, just in case Islamic adherents get violent?
… what abject cowardice, by those without a single spinal vertebrae between them.

‘Propaganda must not investigate the truth objectively and, in so far as it is favourable to the other side, present it according to the theoretical rules of justice; yet it must present only that aspect of the truth which is favourable to its own side. (…) The receptive powers of the masses are very restricted, and their understanding is feeble. On the other hand, they quickly forget. Such being the case, all effective propaganda must be confined to a few bare essentials and those must be expressed as far as possible in stereotyped formulas. These slogans should be persistently repeated until the very last individual has come to grasp the idea that has been put forward….

In the section that ought to be called ‘we have to admit’ we see what viewers (I say Licence Payers) noticed about the D-Day coverage – ie it was shit. Dodgy camera work, chaotic editing… here comes a parachutist to land…. oh dear he dissappears out of view behind a tent… and we cut to another shot of the back of people’s heads.

The BBC has serious problems in reporting the Muslim takeover of schools in the UK with particular reference to Park Hill in Birmingham.

    1. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/education-27024881
Entitled : Extremist ‘takeovers’ in Birmingham schools?

Note the question mark. Rather than investigating the evidence the report bogs itself down on the ‘Trojan letter’, which may indeed be false but that of course is not why teachers and heads from these schools have been so concerned. Nor is it why Park Hill is being investigated.

It does end with an interview with Tahir Alam who has definitely written a guide on the islamifcation of schools. See:
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/education/educationnews/10790441/Guide-to-school-Islamisation-by-ringleader-of-Trojan-Horse-plot.html

Without irony the BBC reports Alam, who is Chair of Governors of Park Hill : ‘Tahir Alam, dismissed the “ridiculous assertions” and said this was a media-generated “frenzy”.’

So that’s all right then. Isn’t that a bit like asking Hitler if the Nazis are a bit, you know, extreme and unpleasant?

    Yet …

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-27739044

The threat to the same school is now real because it was mentioned in the Guardian, (‘Park View, rated as outstanding by Oftsed in 2012, will be graded inadequate, according to a leaked Ofsted report in The Guardian.’)

It is also real because the young pretender to Milliband’s crown, Tristram Hunt, says it is all because of the Tories. (‘Shadow education secretary Tristram Hunt has accused the government of “incompetence” over its handling of the threat of extremism in schools.’)

So there you have it. There is no problem with Park Hill School but if there is then it is the fault of the Tories.

Phew, I am glad the BBC has explained that to a concerned public I was getting worried there for a moment.

Renta-lefty-gob Alibhai-Brown was on bemoaning the fact that we didn’t commemorate Soviet and Indian contributions yesterday. Ignoring the fact that on Remembrance Sunday we do commemorate all Empire contributions to war efforts.

Nobody else on the panel dared point out that there were no Soviets or Indians fighting on D-Day, and besides, the Soviets commemorate their success in WW2 on “Victory Day” (May 9th).

She’s one of those lefties who rightly say that the Soviets sacrificed the most during WW2 but forget that D-Day was vital for not just defeating the Nazis in the west, but for preventing Soviet control across the whole of Europe.

Something on the D Day celebrations that won’t be covered by the BBC. I had the honour of sailing with a group of veterans returning to Normandy. They were well received by fellow passengers and the French crew. But what stuck in my mind was the hymn sheets handed by the crew out to all passengers and the veterans from which we all sung loudly – Onward Christian Soldiers.

The soldiers who had fought against facism and National Socialism were consciously or not, sticking two fingers at the multiculty, PC, anti-Christian, pro-Islamic media and appeasers like Cameron, Clegg and all. One last crossing, one final victory for the great generation.

As we were out of British territorial waters Cameron’s appeasing thought police were not likely to arrest anyone for giving offence.

They fought Nazism in the name of democracy and freedom but what did they get? The EU.

      Read this and weep:

      http://www.telegraph.co.uk/history/world-war-two/10882909/Amid-the-French-theatrics-a-simple-pipers-lament.html

‘Despite being bit-part players, the French like to do D-Day their way. So the ceremony – if that be the word – that took place on the stretch of sand forever known as Sword was, as expected, a peculiarly Gallic affair.
The only speech made (by President of the Republic François Hollande) was in French and the commentary on the public address system was in French……
This was a modern Continental guide to the Second World War and the lesson spectators were meant to take home was that the European Union is a thoroughly good thing.
When two veterans were presented to the audience at the climax of the 90-minute extravaganza they were not British or Canadian or American but French and German.
As Leon Gautier, a Free French commando, and Johannes Borner, a German soldier, stood shoulder to shoulder, the scenery used at one point to depict Nazi gun emplacements was rearranged to create the circlet of gold stars that is the symbol of the EU.
This was touchy-feely history at its modern best, a version that saw Operation Overlord as the first step towards the Common Agricultural Policy………
“It is up to us to have the same vision, the same courage, to be just as bright and have the same determination as those who came to these beaches 70 years ago,” said President Hollande, in an address that ranged from terrorism to climate change.’

      To quote Orwell:

‘If you want a vision of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face – forever.’

That’s what Hollande, Merkel, Blair, Mandelson, Miliband and the rest of the totalitarian bunch are doing – and it’s relentless.

        Thank you Johnnythefish

I agree the ceremony was designed to prop up the EU. I was there the previous day watching the news reporters recording their material 24 hours in advance. On the day, there was an exclusion zone, some 6 kilometres around the place. The media and politicians had their event. My goodness, the so called dance scenes were ghastly, resembling in some aspects a third rate zombie film.
But there was another level of celebrations among the ordinary people. French bikers turned up at parachute drops riding their Harley Davidsons, and women everywhere were wearing clothes in the design of the US flag. Flags of the UK and USA hung from balconies, and in the villages there were some genuine celebrations.

The BBC played this for us.
In all those years whilst these problems of Islamic infiltration was going on, I don`t recall Labours Liam Byrne, Ed Balls or ANY of them ever even addressing this as a problem. Although we now know it was.
Just like mid-Staffs…Labour leaves the corpse stinking out the attic, and the Tories go silently into the police van of public opinion without a fight…dumbclucks!
As for May and Gove being in breach of some kind of Ministerial Code?…I`m guessing that Blair and Browns weird games and nasties were “not within the scope of the current investigation” (according to Brennan).
I despise May, but at least she did make efforts to lose Qatada and Hamza, not include them in Hazel Blears “respect agenda”-as Labour would have done…and Gove has long known of what Islam`s been up to with his Celsius 7/7 book( funnily enough though, he`s never described as an author or expert on Islam-unlike Alibiah Brown or Owen Jones ;who know far less than Gove has forgotten.
Trust the BBC to lead the 9pm bulletins with this tiddler of tripe as a story-all in the hope that we might forget about what Muslims have been systematically doing in our schools as Labour egged them on.

Tonight’s Pointless (bBBC2) was supposedly a World Cup special, with teams (of two) including Geoff Hurst, Peter Shilton, Graham le Saux, etc … and two English women footballers who have done nothing and are only known for being lesbians. Sadly, those two won the competition, with the final decided in their favour because they knew the name of Elton John’s queer partner.
The bBBC producers must have been orgasmic.

All a part of the trend to elbow out white blokes of a certain age.
I get sick of hearing about how women won the war for us…or how dogs and carrier pigeons made the victory possible.
This is not to belittle the countless acts from women that helped and supported…but the more the BBC try to get parity for the two sexes in WW”, the more I bridle at the agenda.
Bit like the pig and the chicken arguing over their parity in making the farmers breakfast…one makes the contribution, the other makes the sacrifice.
And, as I`ve said on a few occasions, I`ve yet to see the bins emptied weekly by women-and I doubt that hundreds of women would have gone to their deaths in the Twin Towers as the men did(rightly or wrongly).
When the womens footy even begin to give us the myths of July 1966, then I`ll listen-until then, it`s funded crapola.

I suspect that the questions were set to ensure the woman won.

[There’s a first. Lighting has forced the players off and I’ve just been told by a regular here that the lighting must stop within an eight-mile radius of the stadium for 30 minutes before we can resume.] From Phil McNulty. (BBC correspondent England Football match)That would be Lightning then would it Phil?

I’m obviously being stupid here but ‘Thundering’ is an English word, isn’t it? Or is it a regional colloquialism?

Although Muslims comprise little over 5% of UK population at present (but growing), the Islamisation of Britain is daily ever more the new reality, and INBBC should not support it. The Islamisation pattern is apparent, whether it’s:-
    1.) Islamisation of education:-

‘Mail on Sunday’, Page 1 headline –
“Tory bloodbath over Muslim schools fiasco: Cabinet meltdown as Michael Gove is humbled and Theresa May aide fired”

    Read more: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2651674/Tory-bloodbath-Muslim-schools-fiasco-Cabinet-meltdown-Michael-Gove-humbled-Theresa-May-aide-fired.html#ixzz33zSLM8lM

2.) Widespread support for jihadists among Muslims:-

“72 percent of Dutch Muslims approve of Jihad in Syria”

    http://www.jihadwatch.org/2014/06/72-percent-of-dutch-muslims-approve-of-jihad-in-syria

Islamic jihadists using Europe as a base for their murders and violence-

Widespread support for jihadists among Muslims:-

“72 percent of Dutch Muslims approve of Jihad in Syria”

And is percentage support much different among U.K Muslims? Or among Beeboids?

Also on Islamic jihad, Syria and Europe-

      Patrick Cockburn in ‘Independent’-

      [Concluding excerpt]-

“Europeans have not yet woken up to the significance of these anarchic zones opening up on the shores of the Mediterranean in Syria and Libya. This is because the threat has been largely abstract but it is getting less so with the attack on the Jewish Museum in Brussels by a French jihadi who had been in Syria. US and European politicians do not want to explain why, 13 years after 9/11, when the ‘war on terror’ was supposedly launched, thousands of al-Qa’ida militants have been able to carve out enclaves so close to Europe.”

Just listened to some tw*ts on the Papers review talking about how terrible it is to deport criminals because some of them might have to go back to terrible situations in their home countries…
Here’s a novel idea: if you come to Britain precisely because of the terrible situation in your home country and you genuinely fear being sent back, how about refraining from committing serious crimes like murder and rape whilst you’re over here? Just a thought, but it seems like a small price to pay, at least to my way of thinking…

INBBC, and its political bias for Emirate of QATAR.

INBBC will find it politically difficult to criticise anything to do with Qatar, such as alleged corruption over World Cup bid, given INBBC’s commitment to Qatar’s Islamic broadcaster, Al Jazeera:-

“The Sunday Times accuse Qatar of bungs galore, power politics & energy deals in winning the 2022 World Cup”

It seems that the spat between Michael Gove and Theresa May is going to dominate the news rather than dealing with the very real problem of what is happening in the Birmingham schools.

Just seen Marr fawning over Salmond. The impression I got from watching the beeb this morning is that Farage is a racist for wanting to leave Europe bur Salmond is a patriot for wanting to leave the UK. Go figure!

If it is racism to want to leave Europe then I’m proud to be called a racist.

Don’t listen to Heart and Soul BBC World Service http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p002vsn4 if you don’t want to throw up your lunch ! Pure pro Muslim propaganda without ever asking the question to Muslims “so what are you doing to stop extreme Islam?”
