Listening to Any Questions on R4 this afternoon a thought occured to me. Several in fact.
We know the panels are heavily slanted to the liberal left. This one from Bath was 100% liberal left. We also know the audience is heavily liberal left. Being Bath probably even more so. Dull place. Islington in stone.
The Dimblebys are liberal left as well.
Now we come to the question. Has the conservative right given up on these shows and given up in general on the lliberal media? I believe so, probably not in concert but individually having come to the conclusion that there is just no point any more.
The modern left has all the hallmarks of a cult. It believes it does not reason. So arguing with it or giving it your time is pointless. This is all to the good.
I can see no reason for any conservative commentator to have anything further to do with the liberal/BBC axis.

I was born in Bath, it was never Liberal always Tory back in my day, its only the bloody students from the two universities that make it Liberal.

The audience was probably made up of students who should only be able to vote in their home constituencies as it skews the result and f % £ks up the result for real Bathonians and other university cities.

When I wander arond Bath now it feels like a multicult sh1thole because of said students and not the wonderful place I grew up in.

As there seems to be a denial of service outbreak of impersonation, it would be helpful if someone, preferably the site owners/admin could explain how it’s possible, if not from where.
It was/is bad enough when confusion could be sown by the difference between a capital or a full stop or space, or arbitrary one liners out of context, but if the poster name is (apparently) identical that does create major issues.
I am not even sure how it is possible, as surely names are unique and tied to registration details (explaining if not excusing the endless supply of Borg Box assaults made possible through equally malign intent and oddly substantial resources. That a Friday night special can garner several irony free likes for a rehashed ‘sad old men’ post shows who is kept on station)?
Every so often funding seems to get found for a Battle of the Bulge incursion. Historically it failed, but did see early success by use of false flag operatives. Caution is therefore advised.

You can tell which posts are impersonation and which ones are real. The real ones are funny and full of pithy wisdom. The fake ones are by a sad attention seeker who seems to be heading for (another?) break down.

Just take pity on him like I do. After all he’s sat in a room all by himself on Saturday night when he should be out looking for fun. Poor chap.

NB This was written by the real ‘pah.’ Its easy to impersonate as the posts are not tied to the ‘name’ field.

          Ah… I see.

Which ‘I’ “I” may be of course now a matter of some confusion and hence doubt, possibly.

Maybe the site owners may like to comment on what this may lead to if not addressed, presumably?

          Just a thought.

False flags to see the site tarnished generically is one thing. That it can be easily done to an individual poster… that can quickly see things deteriorate.

I was once taken to task for not according a Dr. Foster the respect he was felt owed. Turns out he/she/it was not the Dr. Foster from Dr. Foster’s account. Which was not nice.

It would seem a bit more than the freedoms, culture and religion of the victims of this atrocity were a bit more than eroded or restricted in this planned act of nihilistic savagery.
Once the identity and motivations (good luck with that one) of the perpetrators and their leadership have been established, maybe MSM ‘analysis’ could actually try to delve into who sends suicidal shock-value troops to high-profile massacre innocents as an instrument of policy, all the time, all over the world, and how appeasement does not seem to be curtailing the trend?

BBC-NUJ now prefers the word ‘separatists’ to ‘ Islamic jihadists’; and as noted above, these Muslims are seen by Beeboids, e.g. Ms Hatton (sidebar), as ‘victims’, not ‘perpetrators’ of violence.

Utter bollocks without a shred of evidence to back it up, but totally uncontested by the BBC.

If Campbell is such a great natural leader as to be the obvious choice to captain England over a period of 10 years, why wasn’t he captaining his club during that time?

The fact that Campbell walked out of Notts Forest soon after signing up [i](when it was managed by an ex-international manager called Sven)[/] kind of hints at how things might have gone had Campbell been made England captain.

And what makes Campbell think he would have been a better captain than Beckham, who put his heart and soul into every England game?

Where there is doubt, I have no problem with watertight oversight. However, doing everything to avoid reality is a trial, and worse when evidently motivated by a desire to actively obscure it.
Equally, when it comes to the inevitable ‘analysis’, the equally inevitable inconsistencies borne of skewed sensitivities will frustrate.
There has to be a problem that placing a piece of processed meat on a door handle will see the BBC jerk into immediate full flounce and obsessive follow up, yet slaughtering train travellers at best manages passive tense tiptoeing.
Guessing the relevant ‘community’, once established, will soon be offered the full broadcast resources of the BBC to wail that they are now living in fear because the guys next door took an off-peak away day to Armageddon. Or these sweethearts’ surviving rellies or mentors will be interviewed to explain their motivations.
I am reading they are seeing Chinese Han culture intrude on theirs, pushing aside many old values and historical bonds, and local generations coping with the pressures of new guests from afar.
The BBC may like to reflect on how folk around the world can feel, and clearly react differently, to such diversity.
Plus how the BBC reports on it.

    I’m glad someone is happy.

I hear that Ben Stephenson head of BBC drama is gay.

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2569086/There-arent-gay-characters-TV-says-BBC-drama-boss-promises-commission-homosexual-storylines.html

Just think, £247,800pa and you get to pick what’s on telly.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/aboutthebbc/insidethebbc/managementstructure/biographies/stephenson_ben.html

No wonder he has a smile on his face.

But seriously – he has suggested that he will use his position to put more homosexual characters into BBC drama.

Now the revelation that someone with a background in drama and show business happens to bat for the away team hardly comes as a bolt from the blue. I say good luck to the chap and I can’t see how that should interfere with how he does his job. And that last thought really ought to be the beginning and the end of the matter.

But this is the BBC in 2014 and agenda and social engineering have become institutionalised.

Stop and think. The idea that he his going to use Licence Fee cash to proselytize for his own personal sexual proclivity ought to riase a storm of objection.

Imagine – the new BBC producer of Songs of Praise has a yen for chubby blondes – does he steer the show in a direction so that it visits more churches with chubby blonde vicars?

The BBC manager in charge of booking venues for the Antiques Road Show enjoys a little S&M – are Fiona Bruce and pals sent off down the road to an old rope manufactory?

This man’s suggestion is wrong. Unfortunately we have reached a place where his views and other such views cannot be challenged in the mainstream. He can snipe at the middleground but cannot receive return fire. He is bulletproof. No wonder he is gay.

    • Milverton says:

Fiona Brice in S&M costume isn’t the worst idea I’ve ever heard. She looked pretty impressive in Diana Rigg’s Avengers catsuit.

As for the gay storylines sought by Ben Stephenson, he’ll find the ratings will disappoint.

There is a world of difference between a programme based on a story with a certain gravitas and critical weight like Oranges Are The Only Fruit, and the likely storytelling a commissioned piece will… engender, which will more likely be far more of the Queer As Folk seen through the perspective of the Tottenham riots variety, or two gay Taliban seeking asylum after a US drone attack killed all the guests at their illegal Kandahar civil partnership ceremony.

Some of our finest writers, actors, artists and musicians have been gay, and found success with their prodigious talents not by jumping up and down and demanding respect, but by being rather good.

Stephenson’s error will lie in starting with the sexuality and hanging a story on it, before all else. You could say he’s got it arse backwards, but that’s probably hate speech by current standards.

Well our Buoy does say that
    1. The “democratic government” that HAD been elected was actually removed by a revolutionary mob that the EU and US had primed.
    2. The “democratic government” that was forced out had actually signed an agreement with the mob re a transition and new elections etc…but the mob(with EU/US) support welshed on that agreement, which is hardly a good sign of what has now replaced it.
    3. The Ukrainian ex President had actually BEEN elected by a majority of the Ukrainian people…as indeed has President Putin in Russia….so unlike the EU cabal with the likes of ex CND treasurer and NHS Trust chair Catherine Ashton who not one person has voted for-just a hat check girl for Brown way back.
To hear Paddy gloss over this series of democratic deficits, and the overwhelming democratic rights of Russia and East Ukraine to act to stop the EU forcing yet another troika onto a broken country was a disgrace..but Paddy is just Richard Bacon in a condom..something for the weekend indeed.
West pointed out the elected nature of Yanushenko…but didn`t blast O Connells romantic ignorance and rush to the cliche cupboard.

Ludicrous-yellow fever endemic at the BBC, and not in a race-related way,all yellow!

In practice, if the provenance of who is saying it is now uncertian, there may be doubts creeping in, even with matters of fact beyond (often legitimate) opinion.

Cash keeps rolling in for BBC’s six-figure big shots
Despite the new director-general’s pledges, some of the top earners have seen their pay grow, write Nicholas Hellen and Robin Henry
    (£)
THE BBC is facing a row over its bloated bureaucracy after an investigation revealed salary rises for some of its most highly paid staff, with more than 80 earning in excess of £150,000.

Despite pledges to cut bureaucracy, and a pay freeze in the public sector, the number of senior executives earning more than £100,000 has increased under Lord Hall, its new director-general, according to an official BBC register of elite staff.

The register also shows that thirteen executives earning more than the prime minister’s £142,500-a-year salary have had rises of as much as 10% in the past year. There are at least 82 executives on more than £150,000, well above the official target of 70.

Hall launched his campaign last week for a new royal charter, starting in 2017, and said £100m in cuts would be announced this month. Jobs at BBC News may be hit.

He acknowledged: “When you point to the BBC you are pointing to an organisation that makes mistakes.”

However, since he took over in April at least 18 high-paid executives have been been given pay rises, despite no changes to their job titles.

Top of the list was Mark Linsey, controller of entertainment commissioning, who declared a 10% pay rise, taking his salary to £222,000 and his total remuneration to £230,000. He took on some new responsibilities.
Claire Dresser, chief adviser, vision, recorded a salary of £109,433 and total remuneration of £114,233 last November — a rise of nearly £10,000 on her listing for June.

Eyebrows have also been raised at the salaries of some of the new team of executive directors Hall has assembled. The corporation is obliged to follow the BBC Trust’s pay strategy 2011-15, which urges the corporation “to reduce our senior management paybill through recruiting senior managers who are paid less than the previous incumbent”.

Yet in came Anne Bulford, a former colleague of Hall at the Royal Opera House, on a base salary of £395,000, substantially more than the £352,000 paid to Zarin Patel, the former chief financial officer. Danny Cohen was promoted from controller of BBC1 to director of television in May, on pay of £320,000 and total remuneration of £327,800. This was significantly more than the £270,000 base pay of George Entwistle as director of vision in 2011-12.

James Harding became director of news and current affairs on the same rate as his predecessor, Helen Boaden, £340,000.

In his defence Hall could point to the fact that Bulford had wider responsibilities than Patel, and Cohen did not receive a pay increase on his promotion from controller of BBC1.

But figures unearthed by The Sunday Times suggest Hall may be having problems controlling executive pay below board level.

The BBC insisted this weekend that he had continued to make progress in hacking back the general group of “senior managers”, reducing their pay bill by £2m in the period March 31 last year to January 1.

But among the elite group of about 100 executives required to declare their salaries and expenses quarterly, this process appears to have stalled and in parts may even have gone into reverse.

The list of managers who declared their pay rose from 103 in March 2013, before Hall joined, to 111 today plus four non-executive directors. Analysis by The Sunday Times shows that the true increase is from 100 to 102 now, once recently departed staff and non-executive directors are eliminated from the current list. Of these, 87 receive remuneration higher than the combined parliamentary and ministerial pay of David Cameron. More pressingly for Hall, 82 receive remuneration of more than £150,000.

According to the official target, that number should now be around the 70 mark and must be reduced to 65 by the end of next year.

The BBC said in a statement: “The website still contains profiles of a number of individuals who have left the organisation and simply counting them doesn’t deliver up-to-date numbers — the latest figures show senior manager numbers have reduced under Tony Hall by more than 25 people, reducing the pay bill by more than £2m.”

In his conference speech, Hall insisted that the licence fee today offered vastly better value than it did 20 years ago — with four times more television channels for a lower fee in real terms. Now the test is whether he can demonstrate the same value for money on the issue of pay.

I recall a while ago a Paul Mason blog post when he was at Newsnight, I think about Steve Jobs but also of course Apple.
In it he rather foolishly showed off by listing all his iToys which, if provided rather than purchased, may have had even the more sycophantic of his followers totting up how much he was walking around, and off with, as one doubts these things get handed back at reception. Even if they are meant to be, thanks to the unique way the BBC employees can operate on different legal and ethical bases, it seems ‘liberating’ kit is more of a perk than a problem there.
On matters Mac, some of the techier souls also raised the affection Apple is held in at the corporation, and how this can get reflected in the absolutely interest unconflicted reporting of such as Rory CJ. And should anyone seek to raise questions enough on such things to get as far as the Trust, there is of course all sorts of relatively powerful influence there to make these go away.
What is also intriguing in this story (other than the calibre of BBc staff trying to control the comments) is what is known and what is, at best vague, which may be down to the DM’s standards of confirming information, or maybe more the BBC’s addiction to not letting go any information if they can help it.
I would, for instance, be keen to see this followed up, if necessary with a non-exempted FoI request:
‘In addition, they are thought to have spent tens of thousands of pounds training staff how to use the gadgets.’
I am a self-confessed iTiot, which is why I have paid the premium for Apple products as they are so user-freindly.
That anyone needs ‘training’ in how to work one that costs these amounts seems astounding… well… outside of the money pit that is the BBC. It would be good to go from ‘thought to’ to confirmed, with numbers.

Cool thread! But, where is the article? All I see are comments?
