TIME FOR A CORRECTION….

Those pesky Jews. BBC Watch exposes some historical revisionism from the State Broadcaster. First the facts….

“In 1862 the population of Jerusalem numbered some 17,800 people, with the majority (eight thousand) being Jews. Two years prior to that date the first Jewish neighbourhood outside the Old City walls – Mishkenot Sha’ananim – had been built by Sir Moses Montefiore. Inside theOld City itself, restoration work on the Hurva Synagogue was in its advanced stages and the quarter boasted additional synagogues, schools and hospitals. The Mount of Olives had by that time been a Jewish burial ground for 3,000 years. ”

However, a listener to John McCarthy’s programme on Jerusalem from the series “In a Prince’s Footsteps” which was broadcast on BBC Radio 4 on May 8th (available here for a limited period of time) would have no idea that any Jews lived in the city at all when Prince Albert visited it in 1862 – or indeed before or after that date.

McCarthy is just one more in a long line of BBC talking heads who seems to choke at the idea of recognising Jerusalem as Jewish. Remarkable really. But surely it is time for McCarthy to correct himself?

The interlopers in Jerusalem are the muslims. The rightful
heirs to Jerusalem are the Jews. No more need be said or discussed.

I’m buying shares in Travis Perkins because a lot of walls are going to have to be built over the next fifty years.

Once again our intrepid defenders of the indefensible are conspicuous in their absence from BBC Watch. Perhaps they just can’t make the interwebs thingy work for that site and can post comments here and nowhere else? If that’s the case, how about it, guys?

BBC Watch also has another piece on twisted facts re McCarthy’s output with
Diatribe against anti-terrorist fence on BBC Radio 4

It looks as if what we are witnessing with him is a classic case of Stockholm syndrome* following his being a hostage in Lebanon for 5 years.

So what’s the BBC excuse for furthering his syndrome?

*(or capture–bonding, is a psychological phenomenon in which hostages express empathy and sympathy and have positive feelings toward their captors, sometimes to the point of defending them)

The need to destroy the legitmacy of Israel goes so deep now in the liberal media and the Universities that nothing would surprise me.
Why it should be so is beyond all reason. It is something very ugly and I cannot fathom it. Those who hold to these views are some of the most unpleasant individuals I have ever met.

The basic Arab tactic to deal with the inconvenient fact of thousands of years recognition of Jewish connection to Israel is to rewrite history to exclude the Jews. John McCarthy is simply following the playbook.
