Stating the obvious, but if it is found that he was in fact poisoned, it would still be unlikely to be Israel that did the deed. There was an offshore construction company, called CCC, set up in The Gulf to provide funds / as a front for the PLO. The guys working on the barges were expected to contribute part of their wages to the cause.

I’d be surprised if Arafat had been murdered but as the Israelis tried to do so, they are going to be number one suspects if the opposite is proven.
Prole, in your world the Israelis are number one suspects for everything, from Kennedy’s assassination, 9/11, the sinking of the Titanic, the Falklands War, the Hole in the Ozone Layer, the Banking Crisis, a cold cup of coffee at Starbucks etc.

There is no need to prove Israel murdered Arafat. A majority of Palestinians don’t require or even want proof. It’s like the BBC refusing to countenance that Omar the Gaza baby may have been the victim of friendly fire or or a secondary blast from a butane heater caused by scrapnel from exploding Hmas munitions. Israel did it, obviously. No need for further investigation
Nor do they need to proof Arafat didn’t die from AIDS. The best way is just to ignore it and keep him in the ground. BTW Although Arafat’s homosexuality is really not in doubt, there is no evidence he died from this disease. His doctor didn’t say he died from AIDS, rather that evidence of the disease was found and may have been planted. He could have been HIV positive.
The BBC should be asking who benefits, now, from this circus. Most likely this is a three dispute between Suha Arafat, Mahmud Abbas and Salam Fayyad. Whoever inherits control over Arafat’s legacy gains credibility, status and possibly a great deal of money.
Abbas facing criticism for his lack of involvement in Gaza, which he didn’t or couldn’t even visit and with an on-again/off-again UN effort has to prove relevancy and control. Excavating Arafat is a form of muscle flexing without the risk of being towed behind a motor cycle.
