The BBC Narrows Your Horizons

Peter Hitchens was invited to be a talking head on Flanders’ ‘Masters of Money’ programme on Marx.

Here is his take on it:

He tells us his opinion of Marx….‘Marx turns out not to have been the prophet of Lenin and Stalin, who hated God, wanted absolute power and needed a pretext for seizing it, but to have been the prophet of the Canton sweatshop, the computer age and the sweeping away of national borders.’

And then what Flanders is interested in….‘Alas, Miss Flanders’s programme  is much more about whether Marx has anything to say about the current banking crisis. In my view, the answer to that is a resounding ‘Nope’.

There’s also a silly failed joke about how a ‘Marxist Broadcasting Corporation’ would have reported the events of the last few years, which looks to me remarkably like what the BBC has actually been doing.

See for yourselves on Monday evening.’

Rather  pointless asking if Marx can teach us anything because even a child would recognise that Marxism is a busted flush….just as a child rapidly spots the flaws in religion.

And just as Flanders may seem to have avoided the wider implications of Marx and his intended violent revolution the BBC seem also to have done the same with the life of Jesus in Marr’s ‘History of The World’.  missing out his life and teachings.  Wonder if they will do the same for Muhammed or Hitler?

‘Cavalier’ Marr is accused of ignoring Jesus while honouring Buddhism in his BBC history of the world.

Christians say the BBC is guilty of ‘a glaring oversight’ for excluding Christ.

Eight-part series contains only a handful of references to Jesus.

A BBC spokesman said: ‘Andrew Marr’s History Of The World is not a religious programme nor a history of religion. The series tells the story of the evolution of civilisation.’

Must be inconvenient that Western civilisation was built on the values derived from Christianity and the authority vested in the Church….never mind, ignore the teachings of the founder of the religion…..what have they got to do with it?

‘Mr Marr said the programme had decided to begin its history of Christianity with St Paul as he had been crucial to the transformation of Christianity into a major religion.’

Bit like doing a history of the BBC and missing out Lord Reith….and only starting from when it ‘really took off’ in the TV age.

‘Marxist Broadcasting Corporation’. Is that a joke or are the BBC, in the interests of honesty, considering a name change?

The BBC and the rest of their Socialist, Cultural Marxist, Frankfurt School comrades hate that the civilisation that gave them everything they have is based on 2000 years of Christian/Judeo teachings.
They are trying their best to destroy that if they do, they are digging their own graves.

True, the Monarchy, Parliament and our modern laws all spring from scripture and the word of God.

However, much of our modern Christian festivals and rituals are only stolen from earlier Pagan festivals and rituals and I am pretty sure that Marr will omit Paganism entirely from his history.

I’m sure Marr did much better in his upcoming special film on The Obamessiah’s reign. No prizes for guessing if he, too, pushes the “Oh, it’s all so polarized! Worse than ever in history ever!” Narrative.

The lefties have picked out the creationist bit of christianity that says all men are created equal and turned it into all persons are equal. But they also recognise the inequality of natural selection in evolution by celebrating diversity. A messed up ideology from the emotional feelings of middle-class morons with arts and humanities degrees. If we had the return of social mobility with Grammar Schools and a block on immigration, then these people would be doing the menial jobs.

Hmmm….. rather like the idea of one Polly Toynbee cleaning toilets or wiping someones arse in a care home. She who said ‘ left-wing people tend to be the most intelligent…’ and of course, failing the 11+ and being booted out of Uni ‘confirms’ that view. I would also say that the present people that wipe arses and clean toilets, paramedics that have to amputate limbs at accidents and many others are paid too little, while pompous, patronising rich bitches like Toynbee are showered with cash for the rubbish they think and write.

Well said Mr Brown. I read Toynbee’s ghastly book about work. You’ll never read such a self serving load of nonsense. It was however, signed, so I managed to get a few quid out of the bitch.

I`m quite sanguine about both of these stories.
Thank God for the Internet. The true prophets of Britains decline and cultural degradation are all up there , just a mouse click away.
Peter Hitchens could never have given us the inside story on what Flanders will be serving up in the way of Marxist gruel in the past ,could he?
The man is the man I build my team around, alongside Murray, Mel and Mr Booker etc.
Note too that Flanders does not interview Mr H herself….so let`s enjoy any noddy shots if the Beeb are stupid enough to include them, now Peter has let us know how they put their Marxist melange together.
As for Marr-given his adulteries and fat salaries…hardly going to want to see what Jesus said about his like , is he?
He`s just back from putting together a coronation cake for Barak Obama , so he says…
Oh dear-if Jesus doesn`t scare him….surely Gaia will!
The mans airmiles are obscene, for such a workaday hack…he`d not have got out of the Stretford Journal in the days when local papers mattered!

What else would you expect from Andrew Marrxist – I bet he is weeping bitter tears with the rest of the beeboids on hearing of the death of Eric Hobsbawm
“one of the UK’s leading historians and one of the most significant intellectuals of the past half century”
    i.e. another marxist.

I wonder if Marr and his producer (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) figured that there had been enough stuff done about Christianity’s influence on civilization, so they didn’t need to bother with any of that and could instead focus on things left out of those silly Christianist histories. Can’t really have that feel-good inclusiveness if you spend too much time on Jesus and that religion. It’s about what makes Marr and his producer feel good, and not much else.

  8. DP111 says:

The “isms” – Marxism. Progressivism, and liberalism, started out with the best of intentions. They took the good of Christianity on a selective basis to suit one need or the other, then divorced themselves from the central tenet that binds the good, i.e., faith in God.

    Chesterton writes

“When a religious scheme is shattered it is not merely the vices that are let loose. The vices are, indeed, let loose, and they wander and do damage. But the virtues are let loose also; and the virtues wander more wildly, and the virtues do more terrible damage. The modern world is full of the old Christian virtues gone mad. The virtues have gone mad because they have been isolated from each other and are wandering alone. “

Without the essential glue of faith in a loving God, and the resulting humility, each of the “isms” degenerated, quite naturally, into worship of the self. With that comes pride within the individual. Totalitarian systems naturally evolve from such a state, releasing all the virtues. All of these heresies cannot acknowledge their origin, but in fact do so in their hatred of Christianity.
