BBC Censorship: Muslim Brotherhood and the Destruction of Israel Edition

The Muslim Brotherhood’s candidate for President in Egypt has launched his campaign. A leading Egyptian cleric, Safwat Higazi, gave a keynote address. I give you the following highlights (translated by Memri):

Ceremony leader : Mursi will liberate Gaza tomorrow.
Crowds : Mursi will liberate Gaza tomorrow.
Ceremony leader : I am an Egyptian and proud of it.
Crowds : I am an Egyptian and proud of it.
Ceremony leader : Mursi will liberate Gaza tomorrow.
Crowds : Mursi will liberate Gaza tomorrow.
Ceremony leader : Mursi will liberate Gaza tomorrow.
Crowds : Mursi will liberate Gaza tomorrow.
Ceremony leader : Say: “Allah Akbar.”
Crowds : Allah Akbar.
Ceremony leader : Say: “Allah Akbar.”
Crowds : Allah Akbar.
Ceremony leader : Say: “Allah Akbar.”
Allah Akbar.
Safwat Higazi : Our capital shall not be Cairo, Mecca, or Medina. It shall be Jerusalem, Allah willing. Our cry shall be: “Millions of martyrs march toward Jerusalem.” Millions of martyrs march toward Jerusalem.
Crowds : Millions of martyrs march toward Jerusalem.
Crowds : Millions of martyrs march toward Jerusalem.
Safwat Higazi : Millions of martyrs march toward Jerusalem.
Crowds : Millions of martyrs march toward Jerusalem.
Ceremony leader : Banish the sleep from the eyes of all Jews.

This is completely as expected, of course. But not if you trust the BBC for your information on such matters. So far, the BBC is spending lots of time fretting about what Netanyahu will get up to next with the new changes in his government, but not a single word about this. Two weeks ago, Beeboid Yolande Knell reported this without question in her rather gentle profile of the candidate, Mohammed Mursi, portraying him as a not-so-bad Muslim Brotherhood candidate who hoped to “win over” ultra-conservative Muslims to his more even-keeled approach:

On the sensitive subject of Israel, Mr Mursi, says that he will keep the 1979 peace treaty but will not meet Israeli officials. He has promised to prioritise the Palestinian issue.

She wisely added this little disclaimer, though that’s no excuse for taking an obvious liar at his word about the peace treaty without comment.

He has said: “Egypt’s next president can’t be like his predecessor, he can’t be a follower who executes policies put to him from outside”.

Not a word about the MB’s desire to destroy Israel in Jon Leyne’s report from the other day about some local violence hurting their election chances, either.

Commentators believe the clashes have weakened Islamist groups, bolstered the popularity of the army, and strengthened the hand of the candidates from the secular side of Egyptian politics, including those with links to the former regime of Hosni Mubarak.

Yeah, maybe. But what do “commentators” believe about how well the “Kill the Jews” platform play with the Egyptian public? If Leyne continues to hang out with mostly liberal bloggers and happy youths, don’t expect the BBC to report that honestly.

It’s irrelevant whether or not one supports Israel or hates it or thinks this blog is full of “Israel Firsters” who wrongly cry that any legitimate criticism of Israel is really anti-Semitism. The BBC should quit sanitizing this stuff, and quit hiding the truth. Reporting that the MB candidate is dedicated to the destruction of Israel isn’t something to shy away from for fear of being accused of demonizing them due to influence by the Jewish Lobby.

Reporting accurately about this “radical” and his desire to commit genocide may inflame community relations and I am sure that is the last thing any of us want.

What we must do is seek out a way to tackle this desire to wipe out the Jews among all communities, especially among Jewish communties. My friends at the BBC and my dearest chum Ken Livingstone have agreed to run a Panarama special on this very subject, but the important thing to remember is that nobody must criticise Islam or any follower of it in any way, so we don’t give those nasty right wingers an excuse to to hinder cultural enrichment.

Suppose there`s no chance of Humphrys, Paxman and Snow pulling rank and blagging those extra airmiles for Cairo as opposed to Paris or Washington is there?
At this dawn of the Arab Spring…democracy taking its first baby steps…how come the Beeb aren`t fretting about postal vote fraud being a possibility in Cairo North.
Why no exit polls or talk of constiutional reform?..why no fond looking back at the legacy of Mubarrak despite a couple of potential excesses?
How come only the interns or plain Janes with no families get the chance to see Cairo for this nail-biting historical moment?…and imagine the martyrdom should one or two Beeboids or Channel 4 greats happen to fall under a wall, or slip from a passing cranes jib?
Got to be a show here hasn`t there?

This is serious news. A potential leader of the most populous Arab nation is directly inciting a second (and truly ‘final’ this time) holocaust. Why is the BBC so quick to gush with enthusiasm at the prospect of a white neo-Nazi killer in Toulouse (without even knowing the facts), yet it FAILS to even mention this near imminent threat to the remaining Jewish population?

No doubt if it were a white Christian Leader of a nation 70+ million strong calling for the wiping out of muslims from Bethlehem, reinstating the ancient Christian world, the BBC would be all over it like a sore rash.

Thank goodness more for Mossad who will be all over it in a breath if it even threatens to kick off.

The disturbing truth is that if Egypt did decide to commit genocide against the Jews, the BBC’s only concern would be how it might lead to a breakdown in community cohesion and people crticising Islamic Ideology.

Somehow I don’t think that Egypt would openly attack Israel – no matter what is said. However

“When religion and politics travel in the same cart, the riders believe nothing can stand in their way. Their movement becomes headlong – faster and faster and faster. They put aside all thought of obstacles and forget that a precipice does not show itself to the man in a blind rush until it’s too late.”

Not to worry, the bBC has no problem having Israel hater ‘Norman Finkelstein’ as the voice of American jews which he claims are getting fed up with Israel. I quote:
“American presidents have long been criticised for being too in thrall to the Jewish lobby. So what happens if American Jews fall out of love with Israel? That’s what the Jewish American academic Norman Finkelstein claims is happening. He says they are now so unhappy with what Israel is doing that they want to distance themselves from the country.

Could he be right and if he is, what does that mean for America’s Middle East policy?

Cannot believe they are using Finkelstein as a voice of American Jews. How absurd. The man is utterly pathological in his myopic dislike of Israel. All around the Arab/Palestinian world Jews are being demonized and dehumanized, the public are being fed the sort of anti-Semitism that even Hitler would have found distasteful, children are being incited to violence, and Israel is being de-legitimized as a state in it’s own right. Will they ever report this? Israel is under unreasonable scrutiny and will do lucky to survive another half-century the way this “Arab Spring” is playing out.

But the bBC keeps on telling me Islam is a religion of peace.
    Pakistan’s Shias fear sectarian attacks
An increase in sectarian violence has killed hundreds of Pakistanis in recent years. Many attacks have been concentrated in the Northern Areas and Balochistan province. Shias and other minority communities say those behind the violence – such as the banned Sunni militant organisation Lashkar-e-Jhangvi – are rarely caught or punished.

Just waiting to see how the bBC rewrites this to blame the British Empire.

When you look at the murder and mayhem in the Middle East and the Indian sub-continent it’s not difficult to come to the conclusion that the biggest killers of Muslims are other Muslims. Yet the IN-BBC have relentlessly portrayed them as the victims of the West. Next time you hear some gobby Islamic spokesperson pushing the victimhood line on the BBC, perhaps the interviewer might challenge this view, and ask a salient question or two about their internal sectarian fighting that kills so many innocent Muslims.
Sorry, got to go, a herd of pigs just crapped all over my roof.

I was travelling in Egypt for 2 weeks in March. I met people who wanted to talk to me because they are Christian and scared of what is happening in their country. I saw incompetance riddles the society there, aggressive begging and hustling is rife in any tourist area, long-distance trains are filthy, the world-famous Cairo Museum of Antiquities does not even have a bookshop/souvenir shop, taxi-drivers and some tradesmen take pride in their dishonesty.

Egypt depended quite heavily on the tourism business – and it is shot to pieces right now. Overpopulation, few natural resources, poor education and health services, grotty housing / huts, contaminated water, virtually nil manufacturing industry – even a lot of processed foods are imported.

Egypt is an economic basket-case. But they think it is all the fault of the West and those horrible Jews.

I made sure I saw everything I wanted to see in Egypt. Because I did not want to go back.

And no reporting on the Cairo Museum. But remember the kerfuffle over the “rape” of the Baghdad Museum during the 2nd Iraq War?
And the media? They see what they want to see, hear what they want to hear. Shame.

Israel knows full well whats coming and has just agreed an unprecedented unity government.

    Pure chance?

Israel is preparing for the fight of its life, the peace deal with Egypt is nearly over and the islamists are going to launch a holy war north into Gaza where they will be welcomed until its realised that Egyptians regard gazans with the same contempt as we view genital fungus and they will treat them with all the respect and kindness that they showed the Bedouin of the Sinai . War is coming, the only people who dont see it are those who have for so long demonized Israel. Oh and by the time the West knows what is going on there will be a genocide against Egyptian Christians.

The next year or so will see the inevitable collapse of the Euro and the completion of the breakdown of order in the Middle East. At least we are on the edge of it but Israel, the only stable democratic country in the region, is right smack bang in the middle. Israel is absolutely surrounded by basket case and financially broken Mediterranean Sea countries, the whole lot of them; Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Syria, Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, Algeria and even Morocco. Iraq and Iran to the east are of course very special and dysfunctional basket cases.

So, where there is not civil unrest, there will be, and the only good thing is that many of them are collapsing from within and it may not affect other countries too much. That is unless another of our daft Prime Ministers gets us involved again, which, if I think about it they will, they always do and have done for the last hundred years.

I therefore expect to see an almighty scrap very soon and turmoil on a scale not seen for 75 years. Let’s just hope that someone does not let loose a few missiles at us. After all they only take 45 minutes to get here, don’t they Tony?

Anyway, the BBC will have a job to spin that as just a few freedom fighters defending themselves from western imperialism.

just as an off topic heads up to anyone who shops in co-op

received this from NI Friends of Israel today…..please make people aware

Since Jan 2009 the Co op (meaning the high street stores, Co op bank, travel agency etc) has had a policy to boycott goods from Israeli settlements. Last month it decided to extend its policy to Israeli companies which it claims trades with the settlements.

This is a serious escalation of a flawed and deeply offensive policy.

Please find attached a flyer produced by the group Stand With Us: “Don’t Co operate with the Co Op”. This is part of a national UK campaign and NIFI stongly urges you to support it in Northern Ireland.

    Here’s how:

    1. Visit your local Co op store and ask to speak to the manager – tell them you do not support the Co op’s Boycott policy regarding Israel and want that message passed on to regional office. You can leave them a copy of the attached flyer.
Find your nearest store here: http://www.co-operative.coop/find-us/

    2. Contact the (head) office of the Co Op by email or telephone – describing yourself as a member or customer. Ask for your message to be passed on to Co op regional representatives and ask for a response.

If you’ve decided you won’t shop in the Co op while it has this boycotting policy then tell them – and explain you know many people who feel the same way.

Please keep me informed of your actions/ any responses you receive. Please forward this message only to known supporters of Israel.

    Arguments against the Boycott:

    1. A boycott exclusively of Jewish owned businesses is highly insulting to the Jewish community and their friends. It is a type of persecution which Jews have faced since Medieval times, under the Nazis, and even in Ireland, during persecution in Limerick in the 1900s. The Co op chose to ignore representations made by the Jewish community in the UK. As a friend of Israel you share the sense of insult.

    2. In the NI context, the Middle East conflict is highly divisive. The Co op is taking an entirely one sided and simplistic approach, which will antagonise many of its members and customers.

    3. The Co Op hides behind “international consensus” that the settlements are illegal, based on UN resolutions. But more UN resolutions have been passed against Israel than all the other countries of the world put together! That does not reflect any real fairness or justice.

    4. Boycotts weren’t thought to be helpful in the NI context, they are equally unhelpful in the Middle East. They encourage extremists who want to isolate and demoralise Israel.

    5. It is highly discriminatory. The only area of the world where the Co op has anything like a similar policy is Western Sahara and Burma. Where is the boycott of Turkish companies (Northern Cyprus and Kurdistan), Russia or China? The Co op as ethical traders are happy to trade freely with companies from regimes whose democratic standing and labour rights bear no comparison whatsoever with Israel’s.

    6. The Co Op should promote positive engagement and bridge-building initiatives between Jews and Arabs – not engage in negative, sterile boycotting gestures.

By way of context, trade between Israel and the UK was £3.6bn last year. The Co op itself estimates its new policy relates to about £350k of business! Therefore the new policy will have no economic impact whatsoever but it is promoted by those who want to alienate and insult friends of Israel.

The Co op has confirmed this is not a boycott of all Israeli goods. But it is clearly a significant extension of a flawed policy and those who advocate it are out for the total isolation of Israel.

Many thanks indeed for your support

Good post. I bet if you asked the crackpots behind it why the ‘Palestinians’ didn’t accept the offer of a state of their own under UN Resolution 181 back in 1948 they wouldn’t have a clue what you’re talking about.
The Co-Op, of course, is positioning itself nicely to become the people’s bank of Millibean’s Socialist Republic.
Can anyone remember their mum’s divi number? Seemed such an innocent age. Ahhh….

  18. David Preiser (USA) says:

I’m putting this here since it’s on a related topic. I haven’t bothered with any of the BBC’s coverage of the passing of Vidal Sassoon, because I simply don’t care. I knew about his work with organizations fighting anti-Semitism, but didn’t know until today that he was actually in a group which got into physical fights with British fascists in 1947.

So of course after reading this:

As Hamm’s followers gathered on street corners bellowing that “not enough Jews were burned at Belsen,” Sassoon and his comrades, armed with knives, coshes, and knuckledusters, set about breaking up fascist meetings.

    …and this…

Encouraged by his ardently Zionist mother, Sassoon’s exploits with the 43 Group led him to a higher calling. In 1948, as the British Mandate was drawing to a close, Sassoon arrived in Palestine where he joined the Palmach in the fight for Israel’s independence.

…I just had to check out the BBC’s obit to see how they spun it. And sure enough:

When the war ended, Vidal was 17, and he became involved in a group fighting the continuing threat of British fascism. He described gangs of uniformed fascists marching through the streets and chanting anti-Semitic slogans “as if the war had never happened”.

It’s rather watered down, no? Don’t want to remind too many people of how bad it was. But that’s not the worst part. This is:

When he was 20, he travelled through Europe to fight in the Arab-Israeli war. “You don’t see the danger, just the cause”, he said.

They can’t even bring themselves to honestly describe what it was. So instead it’s Vidal Sassoon, Israeli aggressor. What kind of editorial policy spins Israel’s maiden fight against destruction by Arab Muslim neighbors into yet another Arab-Israeli war? This is an anti-Israel description, plain and simple. How would it detract from the obit to call it the fight for Israel’s independence or creation?

Defenders of the indefensible will remain, as usual, silent.
