A B-BBC reader notes..

“A new book makesclaims about Megrahi’s release. The BBC reports that the author is by”writer, researcher and TV producer John Ashton.” Unfortunately thereport fails to inform us that Ashton was also a member of Megrahi’s defenceteam

I thought that a member of Megrahi’s defence team was a bit strong. What does he have to contribute. So I did a little googling JUSTICE FOR MEGRAHI

Ashton is no.2 on the The Signatory Members’s list behind Ms Kate Adie (Former Chief News Correspondent for BBC News).

Do any other names jump out of this list?

The problem is, IF the evidence had have been presented to a appeal and IF that evidence was sufficient to clear him of the crime, which it appears to be the case, then you have the problem of WHO actually was responsible?

I would not want the real perpetraitors of that disgusting crime to get away with it, just because it suits some pet prejudice of mine to allow the wrong man to take the blame.

I would rather the appeal have gone ahead and then have justice been seen to be done.  IF Al Megrahi is innocent, then someone else was (A) responsible for the crime and (B) responsible for covering it up and getting the wrong people convicted.

Who would benefit from that? Who would benefit from Al Megrahi being released, without an appeal being held?ro
