CARTE BLANCHETT

One of the key points of the BBC’s agenda about climate change (as David skilfully also points out in his post below) is the enthusiastic backing of the political, liberal elite/ruling class in their determined efforts to foist unwanted energy taxes on those who can’t afford them and in the steps towards world government. The tiresomely self-righteous actress Cate Blanchett, who can afford solar panels on her Sydney mansion (no doubt partly because of extensive government subsidies that benefit the rich) and who has forced Sydney Theatre Company “to go green”, is part of that noisome elite. And so BBC Australia correspondent Nick Bryant – who regularly recycles greenie claptrap with relish – here sees a big story in darling Cate’s fascist call for Australians to commit economic suicide by adopting Gillard’s hated carbon tax. The rest of the world may be seeing a glimmer of sense by finally rejecting renewal of the Kyoto protocol, but not Ms Blanchett. Mr Bryant, it is true, gives prominence to opponents of darling Cate’s elitist stance. But I think that veils his main purpose, which is contained in the carefully chosen words to explain why some Australians are resisting the tax:

The attacks on Cate Blanchett also reveal an instinctive suspicion of people in Australia perceived to be part of a cultural or educational elite – especially by the populist right.

That’s right, it’s those nasty “populist” right-wingers again. How dare they?

Not just Aussies, everyone should have an “instinctive suspicion” of the
    “cultural or educational elite “.

Luckily for many on the left, and their policies, when engaged in advocacy that seems unpopular with the public, they can still be assured of support from quarters untroubled by democratic vote or accountability.

Despite this, things don’t seem to always go their way, which is when the oddly unpersuasive moans about people’s ability to understand get broken out.

Luckily, despite such media influence being deployed 24/7, the result can still seem to disappoint those who feel they are our ‘betters’.

I think it’s disgusting the way that Black and his crew run stories such as the “Bubbling sea” and the Blanchett one, but totally ignore the story of Russia, France, Canada and Japan refusing to join in with a second round of carbon cuts. The man has no shame.

Actors have free time, resources and intensive training in role-playing. That shouldn’t make their politics more convincing except to those who would buy a commercial product because an actor endorses it.

OTOH real scientists have no free time, little money and freeze infront of the camera. Go figure.

One of their main attacks on those who disagree with their ant-mindset is the accusation “Climate Change Deniers”.  The reality is completely the reverse, the majority on here (except for Dezzie and Scotty who cannot think for themselves) completely believe in Climate Change.  So much so that we all agree that Climate Change has happened since the Earth was formed, has never stopped and will continue to do so as long as the planet exists.

However, the Blanchetts and Harrabins of this world are effectively the “Climate Change Deniers” as they apparently believe that there was no climate change until the Industrial Revolution’s effects took hold.  In the same way that their fellow ants condemn the Zionists and World Jewry for all the world’s troubles and then call the Israelis Nazis, the left wing ants always accuse their opponents of things that would be more appropriately directed against themselves.  This is a tactic that they have become very good at, and is very prevalent in the Ants-Nest aka BBC Broadcasting House.

They make those accusations because when they are levelled back at them it sounds like a childish “No, you are!” and is immediatley less effective.

That was excellent Natsman.  They just aren’t willing to properly debate anything, because they know how flimsy their arguments are.

I had two delivery men turn up early this morning (I know, on a UK Bank Holiday) and inquire about my “implied right of access denied” notice.

I explained it was to stop the Capita salesmen from bothering me about not having a TV licence.

They were impressed and decided to do it themselves, so I said spread the word then chaps and save everyone £148/year.

They said they would.  That’s another two.

Anyone else on here doing it?  It does work a treat.

TV licence free for almost two years!  That £300 has just paid for a nice weekend break.

That reminds me of this saga about the Beeboid Corporation and the licence fee enforcers:

What you have to go through to find out under Freedom of Information whether the Beeboid Corporation has ever used TV detector van evidence in court.

The answer is No but someone had to be persistent, knowledgeable as to what he was doing, unwilling to be fobbed off by standard blocking answers and prepared to go through the tortuous processes of the complaints department and internal review, to get that simple answer.

For anyone who has the inclination to plough through it, here is a link to the full details:

My uncle (who worked for the GPO) was adamant that there was no equipment in the vans in the 70’s.  They just had a list of all properties without licences and used to peek through the curtains and then impress the poor householder with their knowledge of what they were watching.  Very few people challenged the collectors.

The licence has always been a con, never mind the travesty it is today.

Interesting thread and site – thanks MT.

There are some similar characteristics of both behaviour, syntax and written style present in staunch defenders of the BBC Telly Tax and AGW.

That chap iain is going out full stops to defend Capita and their operations. One has to wonder why one would put so much effort in defending what is obviously a company carrying out intimidation and disinformation on behalf of the BBC that doesn’t have the backing of the law that they’re trying to convey.

He’s there at every thread on the subject. It get’s my spider senses tingling every time.

And there’s the subtle sarcasm and “holier than thou” overtones that is so often the trademark of the AGW loons.

I seriously begin to wonder whether some people are so scared of the non-authoritarian alternative that they argue for the status quo as if their very livelihoods and raison d’etre depended on it.

According to the BBC’s weird worldview being populist is a bad thing when right wingers do it but a good thing when the BBC itself does it by mass manufacturing trash like Eastenders, Casualtyand Flog It, and by running several radio stations dedicated to pop music.

We are told that these products are good because they are popular, and to suggest otherwise is elitist.

Presuming that The World At One thinks that no-one is listening on a Bank Holiday.
Why else would they close their show with a long piece on Germany intending to be all renewables and imported gas, as opposed to their nuclear…which the Greens etc want phased out asap.
All sounded as if the BBC sees parallels with here, and basically if the Germans can do it-why not us?
But the Germans can`t…yet, all we heard from were the usual quangos and kite flyers of the apocalypse..and NO science or discussion of the obvious problems with relying on Russian gas and the like.
None of it made any sense-was that the idea?
Natsmans You Tube clip only confirms how this dogs dinner of an energy policy is being pumped from Europe, as if it`s somehow not suicidal and dangerous to those of us not earning Blanchetts bungs for fronting up this lime green socialist gas attack.
As sinister as it is stupid! When did Germany last have a tsunami then?
