Bloody Sunday

Hooray. Three cheers for Yolanda Knell’s report on the recent bomb attack in Egypt against Copts. A balanced report at last! She rectified the omissions we’ve been pointing out on B-BBC, and more. Listen to her report, then skip till just after halfway, when Kevin Bocquet starts his “analysis” of Islam v the West.

Boo. Kevin Bocquet undid all the promise of Yolanda Knell’s integrity by reverting to obfuscation, moral equivalence and politically correct mumbo jumbo, and by the way, Muslims admire America, and modestly dressed women embrace free speech, particularly the freedom to praise the burka.

In particular Bocquet pitted all of fundamental Islam against Pastor Terry Jones as if they represented opposite examples of extremism. To him, Jones’s Koran-burning threat counterbalanced the whole of radical Islam’s terrorist attacks, treating them as though they were equal combatants in a philosophical, moral conflict.
The mind boggled till Stephen Pollard pointed out how ludicrous this and many other things in Kevin’s report were, only to be shusshhed by Ed “Holy book” Stourton, and again later when Pollard had the audacity to mention the upsurge of Islam-fuelled antisemitism on campus.

Indy/ Church Times columnist Paul Valley mentioned intolerance, and Stourton assumed he was referring to Stephen Pollard. But he denied that. For a fleeting second I thought he was referring to the ROP. Silly me, he was referring to Stephen Pollard after all, albeit indirectly. He was, of course, alluding to our intolerance of Islam.

I think I see what Helen Boaden meant about impartiality.
In the debate between God and the Devil, the BBC proudly sits on the fence. In the struggle between good and evil, they’re impartial. Tolerance is handed out to all indiscriminately.

Just as after some Islam-fuelled violence the Egyptian authorities round up equal numbers of Islamists and Christians for the political expediency of appeasing radical Islam, the BBC rounds up equal numbers of Muslims and non Muslims for balance, struggling over who to blame for Islam-fuelled discontent, forever locked into their impossible quest to resolve irreconcilable differences.

    There was no open thread so I psoted it here.
    The story of “the women who was setenced to be stoned to death sues two germans reporters”

    In the BBC story no mention of the fact that the Iranian regime pressure very often people in making false confessions. The BBC just repaets what Press TV says. Contrast it with CNN.

    An other report yesterday about the bombing of a church has the following paragraph;

    “In recent months, Copts have complained of discrimination, while some Muslims accuse churches of holding converts to Islam against their will.”
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-12103248

    First the Copts haven’t complained just the last few months. They have been discriminated against for years if not decades.
    Second it is Coptic girls who are kidnapped and forced to convert and to marry a muslim. The police of Egypt doesn’t act against these kidnappings. To state the reverse is perverse.

    What was fascinating about Yolanda Knell’s report was that she described the Copts as “indigenous“. Now this is true, the Coptic liturgical language (Coptic is Arabic for Egyptian)  was the language of the Pharaohs.

    However the BBC is loath to use this expression when describing the English. According to the BBC there is no such thing as indigenous English.

    I have come across a letter from an Assyrian Christian which we have received in our church. It predates the Alexandria outrage, but post dates the Baghdad Massacre.

    Its language is apocalyptic ,but speaks from the depth of Christian identity in Iraq ,but is equally true for the Copts of Egypt. They have lived with Islam for 1350 years and KNOW what Islam is.

    I repeat it is apocalyptic ,but shows why Islam detests their witness….the high value of Israel in their cultural world.

    “As an Assyrian i beseech you to support an autonomous region for Assyrians in Iraq. Every Assyrian is Christian, and our hope is found in the Word of God Almighty. Isa 11:16 There will be a highway for the remnant of his people that is left from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from Egypt. Isa 19:23-25 23 In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria. The Assyrians will go to Egypt and the Egyptians to Assyria. The Egyptians and Assyrians will worship together. 24 In that day Israel will be the third, along with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing on the earth. 25 The LORD Almighty will bless them, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, Assyria my handiwork, and Israel my inheritance.”

    PS By Egypt the writer is refering to the Christian Copts.

    This is to show the depth of the problematic and the extreme danger these minority millions are at a time of Muslim irredentism. Isa is, of course, Jesus Christ.

      That takes me straight back to school and this poem:

      The Assyrian came down like the wolf on the fold,
      And his cohorts were gleaming in purple and gold;
      And the sheen of their spears was like stars on the sea,
      When the blue wave rolls nightly on deep Galilee.

      Like the leaves of the forest when Summer is green,
      That host with their banners at sunset were seen:
      Like the leaves of the forest when Autumn hath blown,
      That host on the morrow lay withered and strown.

      For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast,
      And breathed in the face of the foe as he passed;
      And the eyes of the sleepers waxed deadly and chill,
      And their hearts but once heaved, and for ever grew still!

    Islam Not BBC is inherently pro-Islamic in all its global reporting; it seems that many of the INBBC staff in Islamic countries are Muslims, or appeasers of Islam, who propagandise an Islamic political line.

     We licencepayer should not fund this daily global Islamic propaganda any longer.

    Be fair, Sue. They’ve got no trouble with opposing British evil where it exists (and sometimes even where it doesn’t). It’s evil by exotic ‘others’ that it has a problem opposing.

      Laban,
      Yes, I realise that, but I was trying to use extremes to illustrate a point.
      Anyhow, I see that I’m not the only one who reacted with horror to that edition of Sunday. I haven’t read your post yet, or the articles you linked to, so I’m off to do so right nah – catchya later alligator.

    This readable article by David Harris touches on so many of the issues I’ve posted on recently (and mentions the BBC) that I urge everyone to read it. Especially those of you who don’t share my views.
    Apologies to myself for going OT.

    Excellent post Sue.

    It seems even the beeboid cannot ignore the massive upsurge in Christian murder and persecution around the world, by islamic forces.
    How it must hate having to report it, although the Knell piece is a credit to real journalism.
