The BBC And Palin – Her Riposte..

Naturally the BBC went orgasmic over Sarah Palin’s “gaffe”

Former Alaskan governor and potential 2012 presidential contender Sarah Palin has made a gaffe on a radio show by saying North Korea is a US ally.
Answering questions from host Glenn Beck she said, “Obviously, we’ve got to stand with our North Korean allies.”

Notice the weasel wording. Even though during the rest of the interview she had been talking of the need to support South Korea what was clearly a slip of the tongue has been twisted to give the impression she doesn’t know the difference between North and South Korea.
The Beeb, of course, was, as usual, following the lead of its left/liberal partners in the US media, who as one jumped onto this story with glee. But Palin always fights back – something the media on both sides of the pond find quite shocking because she does it via Facebook and therefore avoids the filters of the media monopolists.

A Thanksgiving Message to All 57 States

My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that…

And the beauty of that rather confusing riposte? It consists entirely of mangled word salad from Barack Obama, each one backed up with Youtube clips…

Read the rest here and realise how Palin is playing completely out of the box…..

What makes that BBC article even more ridiculous is that whichever of the BBC’s Washington online crew wrote it made a “gaffe” of their own:

Answering questions from host Glenn Beck she said, “Obviously, we’ve got to stand with our North Korean allies.”
Corrected by Mr Beck, she replied: “Yeah. And we’re also bound by prudence to stand with our South Korean allies, yes.”

Yet the link in the article takes you straight to the Glenn Beck Show’s transcript of the interview and you’d have to be a very incompetent/lazy BBC reporter not to notice that it was Stu (Glenn’s sidekick) not Glenn himself who corrected her slip of the tongue.

    Whoops.

To slightly adapt the words tof hat BBC ‘journalist’s own dig at Ms Palin, his/her slip of the tongue over Sarah Palin will provide more ammunition for critics who say he/she doesn’t have sufficient knowledge or experience to be a proper reporter.

I have to say, that is rather clever (even if by advisers… no diff to those who script for teleprompter addicts). Shame so few will hear of it, if our impartial MSM has anything to do with it.

‘…more ammunition for critics who say he/she doesn’t have sufficient knowledge or experience to be a proper reporter.’

Neither of which excludes one from being a market rate talent in certain quarters. As to what is needed…

‘…you’d have to be a very incompetent/lazy BBC reporter.’

    QED.

SKY hosts and guests not too keen on looking beyond the hive at the moment, either, not that this is any defence of our impartial national broadcaster and its minions.

I think all decent people will be outraged that Sarah Palin thinks she’s got the right to answer back.  Does she think that the American people are so stupid that they can’t see she is trying to insinuate the mainstream media is biased?  She dare not say it directly, she knows that in today’s America hate speech is not tolerated.

Free and open debate is vital in a democracy and without the mainstream media that would not be possible.  If the MSM was not there to report injustice, every black person in America would be lynched by Sarah Palin’s supporters tomorrow.

Possibly the worst aspect of her comments is her disregard for people’s feelings.  Noone gets to work in the mainstream media unless their integrity is beyond reproach.  Before she posted her comments, did she not stop to think how hurt the reporting community would be to suggest otherwise?

We must applaud the tolerance of Facebook in allowing such an avowed extremist to post on it’s pages, but I think the question all freedom loving Americans will be asking themselves this morning is has the time now come to put a stop to the hate speech of Sarah Palin?

Sarah Palin, drive your 4 wheel humvee with a dead deer strapped across its bonnet while you can, the mainstream media will continue to drive its eco-friendly humbuggie through America bearing the torch of liberty to burn down freedom.

I saw the Youtube clip of Obama. He was almost totally incoherent. Even his audience were ashamed. Now if thet had been Gearge Bush…
And what about Gordon the Moron’s “Obama Beach”  gaffe. Why aren’t the BBC playing that every day ?

Loads of people on Twitter are linking to the BBC article about Palin’s slip of the tongue and saying she doesn’t know the difference between N & S Korea. Job done as far as the BBC is concerned.

Bet they don’t report Palin’s excellent response because that would draw attention to all the Obama gaffes they ignored.

(Breakfast’s Susanna Reid is another of the BBC sisterhood who just had to tweet about it.)

Ms. Reid alluding to another woman’s competence is… novel.

She appears only to know what a twitter feed has told the person who types out her teleprompter script.

BBC bias against Sarah Palin is very clear from the unflattering picture they chose to run of her.  You never see pictures of Obama like that, and I’m sure its not because they dont exist.

Having said that, having looked at the Glenn Beck transcript of the interview the BBC linked to (below), and heard the broadcast on the same link, I can only conclude that yes, Sarah Palin got her Korea’s wrong due to her ignorance of foreign affairs.

In fact, I’d go as far to say that the BBC Online report – the text at least – linked to above is a model of impartiality, certainly compared to the Mail Online take on the story below:-

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1332876/Sarah-Palins-North-Korea-gaffe-We-gotta-stand-allies.html

I really admire Sarah Palin, she did a great job as Governor of Alaska, she’s a great campaigner, and I share her values, but like her foreign policy answer on relations with Russia, this is, to me, a clear indication she is not a fit person to be President.

Dont get me wrong, I’d rather vote for her (were I American) than a crypto commie like Obama, but I would hope the Republicans could put someone better out there.  I know they can, the man that the BBC ignores:-

      h-p

I really think you need to read the Beck transcript again.  Palin repeatedly criticises North Korea as the Baddie.   The incident people are focussing on was obviously a slip of the tongue.

If she really was confused in her mind,  her repeated criticisms would have been of SOUTH Korea.

From the transcript on Glenn Beck’s site, her misspeak on North Korea came soon after she started on the topic.  Her short lead up to the misspeak could be considered ambiguous – the word “sanction” could be taken to mean ‘punish’ or ‘support’, but as she is talking about what North Korea is going to do, I take it to mean she is talking about the support we need to lend our ally in responding to the attack it has suffered.

Like I said, I really like the woman, but I dont think she’s up to the job of President.

          sorry again h-p

I disagree completely with your reading of the transcript of the Beck interview.   Palin was slagging off North Korea,  pure and simple.

Anyone should be allowed a slip of the tongue, shouldn’t they? I should not think it poor of the multi-million BBC news operation that they pass a script to the  “Look North” teleprompter reader which  last night informs us that “the first snow of the YEAR” has fallen in N Yorks

  10. David Preiser (USA) says:

Palin must be at least as qualified as the current President, who apparently thinks Europe is a country, and that the language spoken in Austria is “Austrian”.

The BBC can get bent, as they have censored news of every single one of His errors except for the “Special Olympics” remark.  They’re nearly on the level of North Korean state media in this regard.

It’s entirely possible to think Sarah Palin AND Barak Obama are both unfit to be President of the United States while at the same time believing that the BBC coverage of Obama AND Palin is biased, obsessive and falls far short of the journalist standards we have a right to expect.

  12. Craig says:

    Well put!

One of those obsessions was on display again on today’s Dateline London with Gavin Esler, whose introduction listed the topics for discussion, including “and with Sarah Palin describing North Korea as an American ally, how seriously should we take her as a possible president of the United States?”

As well as being treated to Abdel Bari Atwan’s views on the subject, we were also treated to more of Gavin Esler’s own not-so-impartial comments, beginning with “around the world she’s ofen regarded as a comedy act on a par with Bart Simpson”. Later,
when Canadian journalist Laura Lynch said “Maybe we could send her to North Korea and see what happens'”, Gavin chipped in, “You can see it from Alaska apparently!” (which amused the panel).

When Will Hutton began attacking Fox News (ironically, given that he was saying it on the BBC, for being part of “the decline of impartiality”) – “With Fox News, describing itself as ‘fair and balanced…'” – Gavin Esler chipped in mockingly, “…or ‘news’ for that matter!!” (laughter from other members of the panel).

Israeli journalist Saul Zadka at least was on hand to remind everyone what no-one else (including the host) was prepared to admit – that it was almost certainly a slip-of-the-tongue by Sarah Palin.

Why does the BBC even think that one misspoken phrase by a former Governor and former VP nominee, which was corrected, is that important? What are they trying to prove?
