But the BBC are trying to hide the truth, Barry’s problem is that he’s as unpopular with many middle of the road Democrats as he is with Republicans. The BBC have been trying to make out his unpopularity is down to right wing racists in the Tea Party and the awkward squad Republicans in the Senate and House. This is nonsense of course but to the average Brit who only gets their US politics from the BBC Barry is being picked on by nasty racists and Sarah Palin eats babies.

I was speaking with a prominent Tea Party member in the eastern part of the state she has been doing the heavy work of going door to door on days off to talk to voters, passing out literature and pushing her candidates. The report I got was astounding.
Over and over doors were about to be closed until the voter heard the Magic word “Republican”. When the voter heard that word, doors were opened, literature accepted and thumbs up given.
This is Massachusetts, home of the Kennedys and John Kerry (from whom Newsnight still thinks Bush stole the election), and has been a Democrat stronghold forever. It’s also where Republican and Tea Party-backed Scott Brown won the election to replace the deceased Ted Kennedy. The BBC didn’t know what to do about it then, and they don’t know what to do about it now.
The Chilean miners had their Bibles, the Beeboids have their White House talking points.
I live in a university town which is very liberal, in a big Midwestern swing state. There is a gaggle of Obama supporters here who think he can do no wrong. There is also decently-sized minority of staunch Republican voters. My state voted for Obama in 2008 – and I would say that most of the people who voted against him didn’t care about his race, they just always vote Republican. (Hardly any mention of his race, no racist ads, no code words, etc. I am sure that there are a few racists as well.)
The majority of the people are are middle-of-the-road in terms of politics, which is why this is a swing state. If the election were run today, I guarantee you that Obama would not win, and I will be greatly surprised if our governor and senator (both Democrats) are not replaced by Republicans, and also some of the Democratic Congresspeople, although not in my district where there is no oppostion to the incumbent.
Obama and the Democrats have been very, very stupid, and it is going to cost them, if the people of my state are in any sense representative of the whole.

Always nice to have someone from outside the UK posting here, I wish there were more. With you and David Preiser in the US we will be better informed than by the BBC !
BBC radio, I forget which channel, on Monday just before 6pm had a piece on the upcoming US elections and only really discussed the race in New York State for Governor. The piece concncentrated on portraying the Republican candidate as unsuitable for power and describing how this one battle was going the way of the Democrats.
It was PM, unless the report was broadcast over several stations. The Republican candidate was certainly made out to be a wacko – which he might well be, but I trust nothing I hear on the BBC these days. Every report I wonder what the agenda is and what I’m not being told.
Paladino is a poor candidate. Anybody stupid enough to spend time babbling about disgusting homosexual activity isn’t sharp enough to be a good administrator in New York State. He’s entitled to his opinion, and isn’t encouraging violence or anything of the sort, but you don’t go around saying excessively derogatory stuff like that in New York. It’s foolish.
But the BBC is of course going to focus exclusively on the fringe whackos and not on the vast majority of solid ones. Anyone heard from the BBC anything about Marco Rubio in FL, or Rick Perry in TX, or Col. Allen West (a black man =-O ) in FL, or Meg Whitman in CA? Did the BBC tell you that Dem. Senator Russ Feingold now says he represents Tea Party values? I could go on and on.
No, of course the BBC is – surprise – following the HuffingtonPost’s lead instead.
What’s worse is that Paladino doesn’t stand a chance anyway. He’s running against Andrew Cuomo, son of a former NY Governor and big Democrat figure. So the only reason the BBC is even bothering with Paladino is because he’s an easy mark, a useful tool with which to bash millions of people.
Rubio, on the other hand, has a real chance, as does Whitman, and a whole host of other candidates. But the BBC is silent on all of it except a couple of people with unapproved thoughts.
As you correctly point out so often David, part of the BBC’s lifework is to try to find some outliers among causes it doesn’t like and imply that those outliers represent the entire group, while of course keeping completely silent and uninvestigative about all the outliers among the groups the BBC likes
on 5dead, drive programme from 4-7pm yesterday, there was a similar item. some beeboid (who actually appeared to be more rational and balanced than the usual obama messiah crowd) was interviewing some ‘common man’ in the US, where the guy told him he was anti-abortion, pro gun etc etc. he was asked what he thought of barry’s presidency and replied that it was horrific. beeboid asked him,”terrific or horrific”. he replied horrific again. peter allen was in shock, laughed a bit at his reply. the beeboid correspondent then told him that this man was fairly representative of views held by a lot of american people. i was shocked that a beeboid to actually acknowledge that there exist people in the USA who dont like barry
Of course there are people who don’t approve of the President. The BBC is working overtime now to tell you that they’re all loonies.
