Bill Clinton paid a flying visit to Northern Ireland today and the BBC was all over the event, fawning over him, inviting people to come on the air and “share memories” of the last time he came here. I have to say that the lack of any objectivity over this visit has been shocking, if not surprising, with the BBC in Northern Ireland showing themselves as hapless lickspittles. I wonder if George W Bush came would we have the same sycophantic chorus?

In answer to your question David, no.
Just take a look at some of Dicky Bacon’s comments on Bush for example.
Despite all the BBC-NUJ political bias for the U.S. Democratic Party, and opposition to the Republican Party, it is noticeable that BBC-NUJ’s current favourite, Obama, is so politically desperate that he is trying to blame FOX NEWS for his growing unpopularity.

gotta disagree here dave -clinton did visit “back in the day” and help out with things back then – NI is better for it -less bombs etc?
Less bombs and terrorists in power because the asinine and mendacious Blair and the idiotic SDLP legitimised 30 years of PIRA terrorism? PIRA only sought to negotiate because they were on the brink of defeat. I’d rather we have the situation we have in Spain: ETA just about throwing in the towel because it’s been given a thoroughly good kicking. Could have been the same in Britain if we’d had Government that takes proper pride in its country and has a sincere love of democracy. The BBC dont and dont – quite the reverse – and the same with Clinton. Adulation of Clinton is the BBC’s way of celebrating terrorists snatching victory from the jaws of defeat.
How can this be news ? The repulsive Clinton has been out of office for decades. Who gives a damn about that third rate nonentity ?
Have to disagree with you Grant, I thought Clinton was a moral monstrosity, but an absolute class act. As someone once said of David Lloyd George: “A man with great qualities who wasn’t a great man”.
More evidence of this site just being a right wing, left wing bashing tool, FFS attack the bbbc, it says it on the tin.
ben, do you think the BBC would treat Bush the same way they have Clinton? Forget about anyone else’s political leanings, for a moment.
Ben,
How often do you visit this site ?
