THOSE PESKY AMERICANS…

Another little slice of bias thrown our way from the BBC…

“My theory as to why, when America is on the verge of exploding with intolerance towards Muslims, Britain seems to be coping, has less to do with political philosophy than a basic historical difference.”

Oh Jesus, another liberal, turkey-voting-for-Christmas Jew. Yo Mike, step outside your lefty bubble and come to my place of work. You’ll see how tolerant people are of Islam. It’ll blow your fucking mind, man.

I wasn’t going to, but I think I might just head down to the Ground Zero protest this Saturday to seek out something to counter the BBC’s inevitable propaganda.

Cool.  Take a vid and post it.  Thought of doing a voxpop on BBC coverage?  Eg, using the statement above to get feedback on?  Would be great to hang here.

If the little camera I ordered comes in by Friday, I will.  Otherwise, I might be able to pull of something very low res.  Don’t know yet.

Yes, Islam Not BBC (INBBC) self-censors, and denies publication of any article which:

    a.) criticises Ground Zero Mosque (GZM);

    b.) criticises Islam.

One particular contribution which INBBC has made to dhimmitude is to use British licencepayers’ money to campaign for GZM, a mere nine years after the Isdlamic jihad massacre attacks on New York.

How disgraceful most British people who think it would be, if an American broadcaster ran a campaign to build a mosque at the site of, e.g. the Islamic jihad bombing  of the London bus on 7/7.

Check out David P’s evisceration of this article on the Open Thread.

Michael Goldfarb is just the sort of light-weight liberal beloved of Gavin Esler’s Dateline London, which is why he is (along with Abdel Bari Atwan) one of the most-regular regulars on that programme.

Wondered how long this would take to appear

I have a question, personally I didn’t find the opinions expressed in the article to be overtly ‘left’ or ‘right’, some sentiments from both sides, my question is should the BBC, in your view, have any opinion pieces, or come to any conclusions, at all

    • David Preiser (USA) says:

      Bob,

Opinion pieces like this are worthless to a news organization.  If they’re going to do it because everyone else does it (unless you can provide another reason), they should at least make an effort towards providing a wide range of viewpoints over the long term.  They don’t, but of course you wouldn’t agree.  So I don’t know why you asked that question.

Reporting the news doesn’t involve coming to any conclusions, does it?  Apart from investigative journalism or concluding a gathering of facts about a story, I mean.  Which this isn’t.

Again, not sure why you asked this question.

      • Bob says:

The point is – is it that magazine articles/blogs etc come to the wrong conclusions for some people, or is the concept, which some would argue provide much needed analysis and depth to issues (talking theory here), wrong, on a supposedly balanced, PSB

for example, assume they were aiming to cover both left and right, would it be wrong to showcase these sides at all for fear of bias, or is it worth it for better understanding of issues

        • Bigland says:

The BBC never come to the same conclusions as me.  I am always “wrong”.

Bob, you’re making a mighty big assumption there, one that is not backed up by the evidence.   Then you ask the same question that I’ve already answered above.  Still not sure what your intent is, if you’ve come with a predetermined answer to your first question and don’t want to hear my answer to the second.

The BBC shouldnt have an opinion…its meant to be a fucking news reporting organisation! Instead, the BBC is reporting its opinion as the news!

No its not.  It’s getting someone else to.

Whenever opinion pieces are run on the BBC, there should be ‘for’ and ‘against’.  Unless of course we’re talking about the Bob Broadcasting Corp.

    Dear Comrade Goldfarb:

Are we fighting a war on terror or aren’t we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to America’s shores on September 11, 2001, and to ours on July 7th 2005 and have continually threatened to do so since?

Were people from all over the world, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan , across the Potomac from the nation’s capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania, then on London tube trains and buses later on?

Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day in New York, or didn’t they?

And the many more people in London, all for some cause?

And I’m supposed to care that a few Taliban were claiming to be tortured by a justice system of the nation they come from and are fighting against in a brutal insurgency.

I’ll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11 and 7/7.

I’ll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere belief of which is a crime punishable by beheading in Afghanistan

I’ll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for hacking off Nick Berg’s head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.

I’ll care when the cowardly so-called ‘insurgents’ in Afghanistan come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques and behind women and children.

I’ll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of Nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide bombs.

I’ll care when the BBC stops pretending that their freedom of speech on stories is more important than the lives of the soldiers on the ground or their families waiting at home to hear about them when something happens.

In the meantime, when I hear a story about a British soldier roughing up an Insurgent terrorist to obtain information, know this:

    I don’t care.

When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take this to the bank:

    I don’t care.

When I hear that a prisoner – who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and ‘fed special food’ that is paid for by my taxes – is complaining that his holy book is being ‘mishandled,’ you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts:

    I don’t care.

And oh, by the way, I’ve noticed that sometimes it’s spelled ‘Koran’ and other times ‘Quran.’ Well, believe me!! you guessed it ……

    I don’t care!!

Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world.  Our soldiers don’t have that problem, and so as for your politically correct opinion on Islamic human rights, hear me now…

    I dont care!

New York should simply make a zoning decsision of some sort or other (just like the BBC does) to not allow this particular Ground Zero Mosque. Even Islamic extremists cant fight bureaucracy.

No way.  That actually would be a violation of the First Amendment.  I’ll protest against that more vehemently than I would against this insensitive Muslim project.

Presumably if our pastor pal in Florida had chosen to rip the Korans to shreds he would have been O.K. He would not have increased our carbon footprint had he chosen not to burn them.
For Hillary Clinton to describe the pastor as “disgraceful” and disrespectful” presumably means that when the terrorists flew jets into the Twin Towers that they were not then…merely an “isolated incident” I`m guessing in Beebspeek.
Yet again-the more the Guardianistas squauk about it all-the more that I hope he does it…and for Petreaus to fret about the consequences of his actions on the local Taliban?…that may have something more to do what his army are doing out there in the first place than the small protest of one l`il ole pastor in FLA!

I suspect that Muslim reaction to this may be, how should I put it, disproportionate.

Looks like there will be a patrol of Beeboids at the Ground Zero protest this Saturday.  As usual, the two sides of the argument the BBC sees are:

For:  We must allow this mosque in the interests of religious freedom and proving to Mohammedans around the world that the US isn’t as bad as they think, and to fight against bigots everywhere.

Against:  Bigots, full stop.  Don’t ask whether or not this is actually about asking the Mohammedans to – for once – make the first move towards reconciliation and move a couple of blocks away, demonstrating their superiority to the bigots and haters and proving once and for all that Islam truly is the Religion of Peace.  That’s right out.  The only reason one could possibly be against this is bigotry.

And – what else? – Spot the Missing Word

I sent an a little email to this guy telling him what I thought of the BBC’s biased presentation of this debate.  I did not sign up to meet with him and his BBC colleagues when they’re down there for their report.  But I might run into them accidentally.

Since this is the World Service, perhaps there will be other Beeboids from other BBC divisions there to do the same story from the same perspective?  One can only hope….

Of course, INBBC television is not presenting any programmes this Saturday, 9/11, in memory of the victims of the Islamic jihad attacks on America.

Channel 4 is screening two relevant items though:

      7:15 pm film: ‘Flight 93’;

9:00 pm docu: ‘9/11 State of Emergency’

      -to 10:30 pm

Isn’t it interesting that the effing Muslims can build a Mosque where they like because “that’s the freedom of America” yet anothe man wants to burn some shitty books and the lefty liberal media attack him.

What about all the Bible burning, the protests in London with offensive slogans on them? Oh hang on that’s “free speech” as well.

What the lefty liberals don’t get is people are pissed off with Muslims.

    • David Preiser (USA) says:

According to the BBC, all Muslim grievances against the US are 100% justified.  If you’ll recall the theme of BBC broadcasting from 9/12 onwards, we deserved the terrorist attack because of nasty US foreign policy which oppressed Muslims, and this was the only way for people without political power to make their voices heard.

Five bucks says I can find someone at the protest on Saturday to say just that.
