BYRNING LOVE

Anyone catch Sarah Montague’s “interview” with former chief secretary to the Treasury Liam Byrne this morning? Could she have been any easier on him? I don’t think so. It appears that the BBC have gone along with Labour and consigned it’s thirteen years in power and attendant profligacy to the memory hole. It never happened. Why IS Osborne making Tory cuts?

It is incredible, actually it’s entirely predictable, how the BBC have moved effortlessly into it’s all the Tory’s fault mode within only a few weeks of the election. Also very noticeable is how any Coalition policy announcement means a Labour  ex-Minister is invited in to criticise; I don’t remember many of John Major’s cabinet being so invited post the 1997 election.

To be fair, the Tories were too shell-shocked by the scale of their defeat in 1997 to mount any sort of coherent attack on the incoming government.
To the revisionists in Nulabour, however, the recent election was seen as inconclusive, and some of them  even believed that they still had a chance of forming a government. To maintain the idea that they were never really defeated, they then need to propagate the fiction that their vision of the country’s economy was still viable, hence the appearance of nonentities like Baldermote on the media. He was never really senior enough to be implicated with the reckless spending decisions so it’s safe to let him lie and spin his way through the interviews. Note how all the supposed grown-ups (brown, darling, etc.etc.) have gone to ground.

I remember when New Labour came in Peter Lilley boycotted an anniversary party of the TODAY programme because they weren’t inviting Tories on if when making requests.

I had expected to see and hear much less of labour on the BBC now that they have lost the election. Remember that Conservatives rarely got a look-in during the last 13 years (the BBC was a conservative free zone) and when they did , they got a good mauling from the beeb interviewer.  But as you say, labour still have easy acces to the airwaves.

Taken in isolation it seemed quite balanced insofar as it went.  I dont know yet if a TODAY presenter has yet to put to an ex-Labour Minister the General Secretary of the First Division Association’s accusations of unbudgeted and grossly reckless Labour spending plans?  On past performance, they would be like a dog with a bone on this if the situation was reversed.

I do find it amusing that the BBC wheel out a mong like slaphead or even worse Darling to lecture the Tories on cuts.

Then the BBC finds one halfwit who thinks the cuts are wrong and promotes him yet the vast majority of experts think they need to cut now (as do I)

Funny that when it comes to climate change the BBC doesn’t think that balance is necessary, but now when the vast majority of economists do think the cuts are needed the BBC feels this needs to be balanced.

Lord alone knows how we allow prep school bluestockings like Montague or pompous windbags like Naughtie(anyone ever time the length of his convoluted questions that he answers himself before he finishes them?)to “champion” the piseed off taxpayer.
About time Osborne took the axe to the low hanging fruit that is the BBC…these plum voiced prigs and pimps live off the rest of us in Bush House.
That a Byrne or a Darling dare get up to talk of “responsibilty” shows just how derelict and house trained the current affairs wallahs at the Beeb have become. Witness the slavering tribute to Liam Donaldson prior to the hatchet job done on Andrew Wakefield in the same programme…the idiotic arts graduates have no idea about science or the use/abuse of statistics so prefer to smear and sneer alongside purveying transatlantic gossip with no effort to even listen and respond to what Dr Wakefield was saying.
Basically the Beeb exists now to wring out the hankies and provide the cow eyes for the prep school elite that now run the Liberal agenda at the BBC and the Guardian. This on behalf of their partners and chums in academe and politics. Get them out…how amny billions might we save if we smashed up the BBC once and for all?
