THE BONO BROADCASTING CORPORATION.

Interesting that the BBC uses all its publicity power to promote the fact that U2 have a new album out, even arranging it for U2 to play a “surprise” rooftop gig at the BBC, then push this out across the world media. By way of contrast, the BBC seems less keen to inform us of St Bono’s tax avodiance plans.

Let’s face it – if the BBC were a band it would be U2.

Having said that I can’t think of one high profile band that doesn’t consist of a bunch of right-on lefties. Like the movie business, the music business is largely comprised of people who live in a plastic world of fantasy – and not surprisingly, people who live make-believe lives tend overwhelmingly to gravitate to an ideology which is based on make-believe: leftism.

Such people are prone to believing that life is about the instant gratification of whim without having to deal with the inconvenience of reality. Their minds are just clouds of emotions which aren’t tethered to any objective concretes. Why can’t we just lay down our weapons and enjoy instant peace? Why can’t we all just ‘get along’? Why can’t we feed 6 billion people using traditional organic farming methods? Why can’t we solve the problems of poverty simply by raising taxes on those greedy industrialists (as opposed to raising taxes on those ‘rich-but-not-greedy-oh-no-anything-but-greedy’ celebrities)? Why can’t we change the natural climatic cycles of the Earth simply by knocking down smokestacks and building windmills in their place? Why don’t those evil Israelis just accept rocket attacks as an everyday fact of life, like car crashes? Why can’t everyone have higher wages?

Why can’t we just ‘print more money’?

Etc. Many at the Beeb live in this same fantasy world. And they’re such hypocrites. They’re the type of people who talk about the injustice of the ‘greed’ of Western lifestyles while kids go barefoot in the third world – then they’re straight off to the deli to buy quail’s eggs, duck liver pâté and organic olive oil for their dinner party (at which they’ll talk about the evils of capitalist greed as they stuff caviar and crackers into their fat faces). Hate ’em hate ’em hate ’em.

Are you talking about Haloscan? It’s been buggered for hours. Same over at Gateway Pundit or anywhere else which uses that not-long-for-this-world comments system.

Never mind that they’re not my type of band – at this stage in life – ive heard it all before – so what -i thought beeb was supposed to cater to minority and eclectic tastes as well as mainstream garbage?

The Daily Mail notes that, in return for the £5m+ of free publicity, the charming Bono called a fellow musician (another right on idiot from Colplay) a wanker on air yesterday. An “apology” has been issued, of course, but the relentless driving down of standards continues. If they put such cretins on air, that’s what will happen.

Yes, I was talking about Haloscan. Well, at least it lets us preview comments. The multi-billion pound BBC can’t even organise a preview function on its blogs (except Have Your Say).

Oscar Wilde’s quip about the inexcusable in pursuit of the inedible relating to foxhunters pursuing the fox (I think that was it?) might be worth paraphrasing here. How would it go?

The insufferable interviewed by the unpalatable, perhaps. Any improvements?

Heh, heh…it seems Bono agrees with you – he also called him a cretin!

Yep, that was it. The ‘unspeakable’ in pursuit of the uneatable. A wordsmith like Wilde would have a turkey-shoot with the opportunities that the left offer. Wouldn’t get broadcast on the BBC though.

What part of the band’s business did they move to the Netherlands? I’m guessing its the part that purchases the band’s drug supply.

To Bono’s credit, he and other U2 members where on Chris Evans’ show the other evening and Evans, in typical Beeboid style, asked Bono if he was “glad to see the back of him?” (George W. Bush), to which Bono replied “regardless of what you think of him he’s been good for us” – or something similar – in reference to the stuff Bush has done for Africa. The conversation abruptly changed direction.

Very satisfying to hear the fucker stopped in his tracks.

Can’t be doing with The Edge and his “smother my guitar sound in swathes of reverb” technique, a sure fire way to hide rubbish guitar technique. I’ve done it myself…

Yes,A D E G and C with Ami,move one fonger,Dmi,move one finger.Emi,take one finger off, throw in a B7 for good luck and you have enough chords for the “Three Chord Trick” in two keys and a relative minor sequence.
Moving the same shape around doesn’t count.
That is the definition of a “Three Chord Wonder”.
The harmonic subtlety of a brick.

that was a joke by the way,i really have no idea how many chords edge can play, and i suspect neither have you,as far as being unmusical well thats just a matter of personal taste, and with something like 140 million albums sold i’d say there are a lot of people who would disagree with you.

“The Edge” doesn’t even play chords, mostly. It’s the 340-350ms delay effect on the one note he does play that makes it sound like more than it is. Adam Clayton is the only decent musician in the band. He’s the one who really plays the changes and drives the tunes. The rest is window dressing for the guy in the stupid hat.

Everybody is entitled to pontificate, endlessly,on subjects of which they know nothing. They are not entitled to have anyone take them seriously.
The general public do not know Ab from a bulls foot, but insist that they are arbiters of taste.
Because you like something does not make it good.Take for example this government of incompetent shysters,a small majority voted them in.Does that make them good?
Far more than 140 million people take class A drugs, does that endow drugs with virtue?

Do you have a professional opinion in this Vicky? Strikes me you were just being a smart arse and looking for an argument.
