AND LO, A CHILD IS BORN.

I was reading this BBC report on the birth of a baby son to Sarah Palin’s daughter, Bristol. So far so good, until I get to the line that says “the father is apprentice electrician Levi Johnston, who has been dating Miss Palin for three years and is reportedly keen to take their child hunting.” Now then, is it just me or is this another gratuitous dig at those moose-hunting Alaskan unsophisticates ? Why could the BBC not just report the birth without having to oh-so-subtly snipe at the Palins? Sniggering up their sleeves is about as close to objective reporting as this lot get.

“Keen to take the child hunting.”

So I wonder how that unsubstantiated “quote” got out there.

You think Levi was just speaking extemporaneously one day — or did some hack shout to him “Hey Levi, you go hunting, are you gonna take you kid”

And he may have replied, “Sure, if my kid wants to come with me when he’s old enough, and I can teach him how to do it right, then why not”

I think the only reason they even reported this “story” was so they could get in that line and – like you say – snicker childishly to themselves.

The liberal media deliberately set out to destroy Sarah Palin. The lies about what she said about seeing Russia from Alaska and not knowing that Africa was a Continent not a Country are now common currency in the media, I believe I saw them repeated in The Telegraph since Christmas.
Sarah Palin scared the left, she was popular and a woman, she had to be destroyed – and she was

Well the above comments show it ain’t just you, David. But I think you’re wrong. Pretty much every report mentions it, and it’s not necessarily a sneer. The Daily Mail report is anything but –

The avid hunter hinted at the time that they were expecting a boy by saying he was already looking forward to taking the boy hunting and fishing.

What stands out for me in the Mail article is the picture. Somehow • and I guess it was from the BBC – I had formed a mental picture of Levi as a scruffy reprobate.

Actually, he’s a clean-cut all-American guy. He even has a good suit. In this picture he could be a plausible candidate for the US House of Representatives.

“Keen to take the child hunting.”

…….as would I be. That just makes him and his family more attractive to me and I guess most normal people.

The BBC may attempt cultural cringe, we must never permit them to set the tone.

A perfectly reasonable ambition in the BBC mind may have read:

“the father is apprentice electrician Levi Johnston, who has been dating Miss Palin for three years and is reportedly keen to take their child to a multicultural community centre where they can learn about homosexual sex and recreational drug taking.”

(for the record I oppose neither of these things but I would never smirk at Hunting either. The BBC are so full of prejudice its frightening)

    Lurker ho ho. Funnnee dude.

I bet Levi wears fur as well. And I further bet al-Beeb would have loved to say “fox” hunting.

The BBC writing is sloppy but I think DV is crediting the writer with too much intelligence for a Palin Derangement Syndrome story. It’s based on a much better written People Magazine piece.

    People ends it better, also.
On Monday, Bill McAllister, a spokesman for Gov. Palin said, “This office will not be issuing any statements on [Bristol’s baby]. We’re here to talk about state government and that matter falls outside of that.”

BBC or People Magazine ❓ hmmm

Perhaps if he’d said he’d like to take him down to Hampstead Heath to meet some beeboids when he’s a bit older, the BBC would have approved?

Students of the BBC know that a clean cut all-American guy in a suit is either

    a) A racist
    b) A corrupt politician (not Obama)
    c) A crooked banker
    d) A CIA operative bent on destroying everything un-American
    e) All of the above
    f) Anything else anti-American I haven’t thought of yet…

Have they reported on the extremely incompetent and stupid Caroline Kennedy who’s trying to be given Billary’s Senate seat? Maybe someone on here has read something?

Slightly O/T, but last Friday I heard a segment on the World Service purporting to be about Red State America (i.e., McCain supporters) and how they view President-elect Obama. What followed was a commentary of sorts by someone named Joe Bageant, self-described redneck and author of a book called “Deer Hunting with Jesus”.

Just wanted to relate this in case anyone was under the impression the BBC wasn’t giving both sides equal time.

‘The liberal media deliberately set out to destroy Sarah Palin’

I think Sarah Palin destroyed Sarah Palin when she started talking. Then everyone realised that the woman is thick, crude, borderline racist, and above all, a horrendous role model stuck in the past. How anyone can defend Sarah Palin is beyond me.
