PARTY LIKE IT’S 1999.

Following on from Nick Robinson’s onslaught against the Conservative Party tonight, (see previous post) I now see that the offensive against Caroline Spelman led by the BBC continues. It alleges that some (un-named) Tory MPs are calling for Pparty chairman Caroline Spelman to be sacked, after further evidence emerged about her payments to her nanny. Mrs Spelman’s secretary complained in 1999 that the Meriden MP was using Parliamentary allowances in this way, BBC Two’s Newsnight has learned. Well, it MUST be true then. Hey, look like we’re gonna party like it’s 1999 again – with the BBC remorselessly pursuing Spelman for her decade old alleged sins whilst the likes of Ed Balls and Yvette Cooper, not to mention the blessed Wendy Alexander, get a sympathetic hearing for their totally understandable financial accounting misunderstandings.

    LITTLEJOHN:on Spelman, BBC, Balls, etc.:-

“Why isn’t Labour sleaze a story?
Tory chairman Caroline Spelman pays her nanny for secretarial services 11 years ago and we are told her career is in tatters. It’s a big story on the BBC for days.

“Conservative MP Derek Conway puts his son on the parliamentary payroll and, rightly, gets kicked out of the party.

“Giles Chichester, leader of the Tory MEPs, has to resign after breaking the rules by paying expenses through his family firm.

“Tory sleaze, Tory sleaze, Tory sleaze.

“Labour MEP Michael Cashman puts his boyfriend on the payroll. No further action. The BBC doesn’t even report the story.

“Labour’s ‘golden couple’, Ed and Yvette Balls-Cooper, are investigated for dishonestly claiming tens of thousands of pounds in expenses by pretending their house in London is their ‘second home’ – even though that’s where they spend most of their time and where they send their kids to school.

Both are tipped as future Labour leaders.

As I have wondered before, am I missing something here? ”

i doubt that many of her constituents can afford to do so.

i did note that nobody grilled Ed Ball’s other half on QT tonight over their second home gravy train.

but then , all the other piggies have their snouts in the trough.

Chris Huhne of the Lib Dems did a great deflection , by comparing the piggies behaviour to what happens in the business world – he specifically said a private sector piggy would be “fired” if he was caught snorting from the trough

well , that is the deflection. because in reality the consequences are far more serious – for starters, a criminal prosecution from the company you ripped off.

and if you also were a piggy at the expense of Inland Revenue, then the proverbial ton of bricks , plus handcuffs, plus a judge awaits you.

a tad more serious than mere “fired” dont you think. nice deflection there by Huhne – a grant him that. lessened the seriousness of what the piggies are up to.

    SKY NEWS – HENLEY

LABOUR IN FIFTH PLACE behind the Greens and the BNP…

bbc report right now on the henley result:
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7476703.stm

    full text right now:
The Conservatives have kept hold of Henley after the resignation of Tory MP Boris Johnson prompted a by-election.

He will be replaced by Oxfordshire councillor John Howell, who won with a majority of around 10,000.

Mr Howell thanked voters and admitted he “had big shoes to fill”.

The turnout was reported to be just over 50%, compared with 67.9% at the 2005 General Election.

(meanwhile Sky are saying that labour were in fifth place , beaten by the Greens and BNP… note how the BBC doesnt mention that)

With both Alexander and the Balls family up to their necks in allegations of corruption, Crick’s pathetic attempt to salvage his master’s credibility was a new low for the BBC, this evening (are you listening, Joel, Reith, MrMinit etc?).

Would someone remind me why I have to pay the BBC to receive relentless government propaganda on my TV, please?

“wind power” and brownstuff ecowhackery was announced – for that is what it is – announcements, NOT reporting – on bbc news 24

and its going to cost us about £100 billion quid – to be covered from Lands End to John’O’Groats in windfarms.

i cant help wondering – what are the French doing?

well, fuck all really – about 80 per cent of their electricity is from nukes.

so you have to wonder – why cant we just build nukes?

its not as if Paris has dissapeared in a puff of radioactive smoke yet. so they must be doing something right.

oh right – thats the arrogance coming into play – the “we wont listen to what others are doing , stick the fingers in the ear” syndrome…

and for any eco-loonies frothing at the mouth at the thought of nukes – even the chap who came up with the Gaia hypothesis is on record as saying “go nuclear”…

its the quickest option to get us off carbon.

but i dont see any major program to do that..

which tells me one of two things

    1. eco moonbattery is a fraud

    and

    2. we really do need to build more nukes.. to be energy self-sufficient lest we be beholden to some Sheikh when oil hits 300 bucks a barrel.

i guess, i might as well start making plans to move to nuclear France so. i’ll promise to turn the lights out if i’m the last one left in Albion.

    gapin maw,

don’t worry for it is all in hand, we will need to build the nuclear power stations to provide backup to the turbines on the days the wind doesn’t blow.

I’m sure the BBC will concentrate on Caroline Spelman rather than the fact the fat one eyed unwashed jock got yet another kicking last night.

Message to BBC. Play all the trick syou like. Just like the bollocks you spout about Climate Change, people don’t believe you.

How embarassing is it for the BBC (the worlds GREATEST state boradcaster as they themselves trumpet) now to be believed or trusted by a majority of it’s “shareholders”

  13. Hugh says:

Yes, good neutral reporting here by the Beeb:

‘Newsnight has learned that nine years ago Mrs Spelman was “shopped” by her secretary Sally Hammond…’

So, where’s the quote from? Er, the writer, in fact, Michael Crick. Or I suppose it might be an unattributed Labour press officer.

Not sure if it has been discussed already, apologies if it has – did everyone note the beeboid offer to share their local news content free with other broadcasters !
Presumably this is their defence to DC mentioning that public service broadcasting monies should be shared.
Had they not sold their soul to nulab, this would not have been an issue, but for far too many people, it is the institutional bias that must be ended, as well as the imposed fee.

The Caroline Spelman story really damaged the Tories in Henley. Is there any chance of any more?
Sad news for the BBC,most people think that paying the babby sitter is what MP’s expenses are for.
Voters do baulk at the use of expenses to build up a property portfolio, like those good socialists the Blairs have.

We live in momentous times, the take over by the EU,wind farm mania to name but two. Recent election results indicate that Labour has no mandate for these things yet they cling to power like a drunk to a bar at closing time.

The only trouble with a General Election is that one econut would be replaced by another and since we are now ruled by the EU we are stuffed. The BBC will be renamed the Brussels BC and have the licence fee doubled for the favourable propaganda they have been providing.

A few months back Peter Obourne did a superb CH4 documentary about MPs abuse of their privileges. It attacked the political culture of Westminster, and the arrogance of the “new elite”, across the political spectrum.

The BBC, rather than serve the public by exposing ALL corruption, solely serves the interests of the Labour party by focusing exclusively on Tory corruption.

Whenever a Labour MP is involved in some scandal, there are always caveats about “complexity” “an easy mistake to make”, when its a Tory there are no caveats, just a scream of “Guilty!”

  28. Zevilyn says:

I am amazed at how many Beeb reports I have seen suggesting Brown’s problem is image. Its the public’s fault he’s unpopular, seems to be the insinuation.

    Brown’s problems are his policies.

Vince Cable warned Brown many times about the housing bubble bursting, but Brown ignored his prescient warnings.

I’ve said here before that the BBC has visions of being the EU’s first “state” broadcaster. Now with the launch of their satellite service, it won’t be long before the BBC set up a BBC “EU” service “funded” by us and the backhanders they get from their mates in Brussels.

In return the BBC will promise a 100% positive image of the EU (and they already have a track record on this) in return for MONEY.
