Leftists think asylum’s a huge issue, right? The leftist press went crazy over Michael Howard’s immigration proposals, insisting a storm had been provoked, although most people barely raised an eyebrow. So it stands to reason that when the EU steps in and says that Britain has already handed control of asylum to the EU, this has got to be an even huger story. But guess what? The BBC somehow fails to even mention this. That’s right, it’s a non-story. It’s hard to believe this isn’t deliberate.

All the important decisions for this country are made in back rooms in Brussels. BBC News wants it to stay this way. There’s no need for you little people to go poking your nose in. Shoo! Back to work! Let us handle it!

I’m watching BBC News 24 host a debate on the EU Constitution (ie. a couple of minutes of pointless bickering). Lucy Powell, pro-European, just said that the Euroskeptics are fanatics. If she had more time, no doubt she’d have declared Euroskeptics xenophobic little Englanders.

I may be tripping, but I thought I just saw an advert on the bbc for a serious documentary (well as serious as you can get on the BBC) for “Kilroy- The Man Behind The Tan”. Is this a serious media channel?

It would be interesting to watch, but I have to find that I am reaching for the ‘remote’ whenever I watch the BBC. The BBC is good on Natural History and Comedy though.

    1. China purchases Airbus’ new superjumbo.

    2. EU plans to lift China arms embargo.

I wonder if these two news stories are connected?

Considering the Beeb’s eye for pointing out conspiracy theories about the US government. The EU-China relationship is treated by comparison with a total lack of suspicion.

I don’t think the Beeb have a “line” on Kilroy yet but I reckon the more subtle BBC types see that it is in the interests of their wider policy for him to be promoted.

A Kilroy-led party will (A) help neuter UKIP, the only effective anti-EU party (B) take votes from teh Conservatives that would not otherwise be dislodged (C) Weaken the BNP in many areas and (D) Provide more opportunities for the likes of HIGNFY team to associate right wing politics with absurd orange coloured self-publicists.

But we are. I’m so Xenophobic that I married a foreigner and am living in another country.

The lengths that us Xenophobes will go to hide our true intentions are amazing!!!

When Britain joined the EEC the Heath Government had the whole propaganda line worked out with the BBC. Today there are too many channels and BBC has only about 30% MS on TV and cannot change people’s deepfelt prejudices, merely confirm them or polarise them.

It has too many English graduates. An English degree is a qualification in “unstructured thinking” as anyone who has dealt with the triumph of sentimentality over reason can attest. It is nepotic and you only get into the BBC is you have bed-mates or blackmail-buddies there.

Merchant Banking used to be the place for the indolent well-connected, now it is Media, and the apex of the feather-bed is the BBC with perks no private sector employer could dream of…….then again since 1949 the BBC has had a guaranteed annuity and in an era when you can buy a Chinese colour TV for £49 you need a £121 licence to switch it on……….

    BT has an inflation-minus price formula to account for digital technical advance in telecoms;

“BBC ‘must improve EU overage'[sic.]” says the top stories link.

I think that isn’t a typo but anyhow NO deliberate bias at the beeb (yeah right), so they say:

Damn, forgot to paste the money quotes:

“Whatever the cause in particular cases, the effect is the same for the outside world, and feels like bias,” the report concludes.

Among its 10 recommendations, the report says there “needs to be a better and more impartial coverage of the EU to explain major issues to a wider audience”.

It adds: “The problem of ignorance among BBC journalists on the EU issue must be addressed as a matter of urgency.”

    urgency!!!

After the Tory press confrence on their new immigration initiatives the headline on BBC ceefax was:

    “Tories accused of desparation.”

The story actually started with the words ‘Liberal Democrat leader…’
How about that. Michael Howard does a major speech, outlining major policies, and the BBC regard the liberal democrat response as more significant!!!

Sky news wasn’t much better. Their headline was ‘Tories deny charges of racism’. Unfortunatly, loaded anti-tory headlines are the norm these days, rather than the exception.

Bizarrely, the fairest report of the day was by ITN’s sensationalistic Nick Robinson. That tells you all you need to know about the state of the British media.

The BBC’s use of non-eventing is a deliberate policy. The EU “veto” of Howard’s immigration plans is a major issue which no television channel dares report. Similarly look at the non-reporting of the murder of Kriss Donald which did not happen according to the BBC ITV and CH4 – because none of them thought to mention it – unlike the propaganda event of the decade – Stephen Lawrence. The BBC is a national disgrace. The Licence fee should be scrapped and the BBC left to fend for itself in the real world. But then, there would be no handy mouthpiece for Blair & Co.
